Just a few days ago, we introduced you to this 2005 Maserati MC12 Stradale<\/a>chassis no. 12095, sold in Monterey at the prestigious Jet Center auction organized by Broad Arrow Auctions. Estimates ranged from $4.8 to $5.5 million. The hammer came down at $5,202,500.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A price that's anything but anecdotal: this is quite simply the most expensive modern Maserati ever sold at auction. It thus surpasses a previous record held by a 1955 A6GCS\/53 Spider bodied by Frua, which sold for $5.17 million in 2018.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Maserati MC12 is more than just a supercar. It is the embodiment of a renaissance project: the one that has enabled Maserati to return to international racing after a 37-year absence. Produced in just 50 examples for the road, the MC12 Stradale is even rarer than its cousin from Maranello (400 units for the Enzo). This model featured the famous Bianco Fuji pearl livery with blue accents, a nod to the racing Maseratis of the '60s, as well as an interior combining blue leather and innovative BrighTex fabric.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
