Totem Automobili<\/a> unveiled in Monterrey the final evolutions of its Giulia GT \"restomod\", to be launched in 2020. After getting acquainted with the Marinella<\/a>This is the more bestial \"Sport Prototipo\", of which only 10 will be produced. This \"closes the chapter of restoration\" for Totem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"Rocket\" inspired by the golden age of Italian motorsport<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Like the GT Super SP on which it is based, the prototype on display, dubbed \"Rocket\", was built in carbon fiber, but with a body revised from the original. The wheel arches have been increased in width by 130 millimetres to make way for new rocker panels, which have also been modified to accommodate a double side exhaust tailpipe. A special highlight: electronic valves allow the driver to adjust the sound of the exhaust, and therefore that of the engine, while driving.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The removal of the rear exhaust outlets has enabled the stern to be redesigned, with improved aerodynamics and a large rear diffuser to increase downforce. However, this enlargement also necessitated a redesign of the two underframes and the addition of extra reinforcements. Additional air vents were integrated into the front fenders and hood to improve airflow to the engine compartment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Competition spirit... refined<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Inside, the center console is inspired by the cockpit of a military aircraft, but respects the classic Biscione codes, starting with the \"Cannochiale\" ringed meters and the three-spoke steering wheel with openings. The central part of the dashboard differs from that of the Marinella: the car radio-style connectivity unit disappears and is replaced by a row of four conical buttons in gold finish, highlighted by an Italian flag border. The interior breathes racing spirit, with herringbone carbon-fiber detailing on seats, headliner and trim, replacing leather. The interior colors, burgundy red and Dinamica blue, are a nod to \"the golden age of Italian motorsport, between the late 1950s and early 1960s\".<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The central control panel features Italian-language instructions, ABS settings, a \"mappa\" for selecting engine mapping, and a handbrake that engages via a thumbwheel. At Monterey, Totem also presented an all-new electronic suspension system on the Sports Prototipo, controllable by the driver from inside the cabin. Two steering-wheel-mounted knobs allow the driver to lower or raise the ride height by independently adjusting the front and rear geometry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A special engine from Italtecnica<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

At the heart of the Sports Prototipo is a 3.2L twin-turbo V6 developed by Italtecnica on the basis of the Giulia Quadrifoglio's 2.9L, developing the same 740 hp as the base GT Super SP thanks to a \"power boost\" activated by a simple button on the steering wheel. This V6 is mated to a six-speed manual gearbox. In terms of power, only the GTA Modificata does better, with 810 hp. The quest for performance and the racing philosophy are also embodied in the 19-inch wheels and the use of carbon-ceramic brakes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

No pricing details for Sports Prototipo have been released, nor any further information on the company's next project. But we can't wait to see what happens next!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
