It's a detail that might seem insignificant... and yet it's likely to spark debate within the community. Alfa Romeo<\/a> : will the front license plate on the restyled Tonale be centered?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

To understand what's at stake, we have to go back to the launch of the Alfa Romeo Junior. Presented recently, the new 100 % Stellantis compact SUV marked a break with contemporary Alfa Romeo design, adopting a centered front license plate - a first for the brand on its modern models. Until then, whether on the Giulia, Stelvio or Tonale, this plate had always been offset to the left, as a nod to classic Alfa, or simply to preserve the harmony of the famous Scudetto.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Some Stelvio images<\/a>which will be delayed until 2028, have recently confirmed this trend: it too will feature a central plate at the front. A way of reinforcing the symmetry of the bumper, modernizing the front end and harmonizing the entire range?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The restyled Tonale goes in the same direction<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Presented in 2022, the Tonale is due to undergo its first major restyling in September 2025, a crucial moment for boosting sales. And just in time, carspotter GabetzSpyUnit has published new spy photos of the future model undergoing testing. While the modifications are still camouflaged, one detail is obvious: the front bumper appears to have been redesigned, with a space for a centered license plate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A subtle but significant change. For purists, it could be another step towards design standardization under the Stellantis era. For others, it's an opportunity to modernize the Tonale's silhouette, which is sometimes considered too conservative.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Beyond the nameplate, the restyling seems to focus on the SUV's front end. The photos clearly show two redesigned air vents, reminiscent of those on the current Stelvio. The Scudetto also looks slightly revised. Finally, some details suggest that Alfa Romeo may adopt black elements linking the lights to the Scudetto, as seen on the Junior.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Verdict in September<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

This restyling of the Tonale is expected to provide a real boost to sales, particularly in Europe. After a good year in 2023, sales have collapsed. Alfa Romeo is gambling heavily on this update, as it can't rely on the Junior alone, while waiting for other models.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
