While the Dutch authorities are cracking down hard on speeding on their roads, some drivers simply cross the border to enjoy... unlimited freedom. A recent viral video on social networks features a Lamborghini Revuelto at 370 km\/h on the A57 freeway,<\/strong> not far from the border between Germany and the Netherlands. Objective: to create sensational content for social networks. The result: a demonstration of power in normal road traffic, with a car transport truck overtaking at high speed, in broad daylight, on a simple two-lane road.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Germany, playground for extreme influencers<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

This scene is not isolated. On YouTube, Facebook and Instagram, videos of Dutch cars at over 300 km\/h on the Autobahn are proliferating. The YouTube channel AutotopNL, well known for its straight-line speed tests, is full of them. And behind these videos are often the same profiles: dealers in performance-enhancing parts or luxury cars, banking on the virality of speeding to boost their reputation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Among the models most often featured: Ferrari<\/a>, Lamborghini<\/a>McLaren, Bugatti, Mercedes AMG<\/strong>... always with the same keyword in the description: \"Autobahn\". The message is clear: shoot spectacular videos on German freeways with no speed limits, then rack up views, likes and subscribers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

German police without legal means<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The local police are well aware of this. Interviewed by German television station WDR, spokesman Stefan Sparberg described the videos as \"totally irresponsible\". However, despite the numerous videos sent to them, the German police claim to be powerless. On the section of the A57 concerned, no speed limits apply. As long as no accident occurs, the authorities have no solid legal basis for prosecuting foreign drivers. A situation described internally as \"frustrating\".<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, some of the behaviors filmed could theoretically justify prosecution: drifting on exit ramps, speeding on national roads or behaviors akin to illegal racing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Why do the Dutch come to Germany to drive so fast?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The answer is simple: in the Netherlands, the legal framework is strict. During the day, the speed limit is 100 km\/h on most of the motorway network. Exceeding this limit by more than 40 km\/h can result in immediate confiscation of the driver's license. Above 50 km\/h, the vehicle itself may be confiscated. These offences are considered misdemeanours, and can result in fines of several thousand euros, or even a prison sentence in the event of a repeat offence or endangerment of others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Germany thus appears to be a temporary Eldorado for these extreme drivers, attracted by permissive regulations on certain stretches of freeway.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The case of the Lamborghini Revuelto at 370 km\/h is emblematic of a worrying trend: the use of public infrastructures as racetracks to generate buzz. Vehicles with over 1,000 horsepower become marketing tools, and the quest for followers takes precedence over any form of responsibility. Until something dramatic happens?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
