Initially scheduled for presentation at the end of 2025 and market launch in 2026, a new indiscretion from Italy has upset all plans. According to \"Auto Everyeye\", <strong>the new generation of the Italian SUV would not see the light of day until... 2028.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Just another rumor?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>As early as May 2025, we were already reporting serious doubts. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.italpassion.fr\/en\/alfa-romeo\/alfa-romeo-stelvio-incredible-new-release-date-rumor\/\">on the release schedule for the next Stelvio<\/a>. At Cassino, where the SUV is to be produced on the STLA Large platform, the signals were already in the red: delays in adapting hybrid powertrains, technical constraints of the LP3 platform designed primarily for the 100 % electric, and pressure from Italian legislation on CO2 emissions. All these factors pointed to a later-than-expected launch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to \"Auto Everyeye\", the release of the Stelvio has now been postponed until after that of the future Giulia and Tonale, now scheduled for 2027. This unexpected turn of events means that the Stelvio is no longer the spearhead of Alfa Romeo's revival, but the final link in a new trio.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Suppliers have reportedly been officially informed of the postponement, and orders for parts cancelled, freezing all SUV-related activity for the next few years. A postponement that seems to have been decided, although not yet officially announced by Alfa Romeo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Design challenged?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1200\" height=\"800\" src=\"https:\/\/www.italpassion.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/alfa-romeo-stelvio-2025-jaune.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-38199\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.italpassion.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/alfa-romeo-stelvio-2025-jaune.jpg 1200w, https:\/\/www.italpassion.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/alfa-romeo-stelvio-2025-jaune-420x280.jpg 420w, https:\/\/www.italpassion.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/alfa-romeo-stelvio-2025-jaune-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.italpassion.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/alfa-romeo-stelvio-2025-jaune-18x12.jpg 18w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition to the timeframe, this leak reveals another major surprise: <strong>the Stelvio's design is being revised.<\/strong> Images from patents, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.italpassion.fr\/en\/alfa-romeo\/alfa-romeo-stelvio-new-model-images-leak\/\">in April<\/a> and confirmed by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.italpassion.fr\/en\/stellantis\/stellantis-we-finally-know-the-maximum-power-of-the-future-electric-alfa-romeo-and-maserati\/\">camouflaged prototypes recently spotted on the snow<\/a>The final styling would no longer fit. The styling, apparently considered too lukewarm internally, would be rethought to fit in better with the new stylistic direction the Group wishes to give Alfa Romeo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A development made possible, indeed encouraged, by the recent change of management at the head of Stellantis. The departure of Carlos Tavares and the arrival of Antonio Filosa at the head of the group would act as an act of major strategic change. The new Stelvio, whose previous vision was partly dictated by the Tavares era, is now subject to a more ambitious reinterpretation, including a full range of combustion, hybrid and electric powertrains from launch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">And a new delay<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>What will be left of the Alfa Romeo range in 2026 and 2027?
