A year after unveiling the first images of its concept<\/a>, Lancia<\/a> finally unveils the production version of the Ypsilon HF.<\/strong> This sporty electric city car, which features an emblematic Lancia badge, is already shaping up to be the most serious rival to the Alpine A290 and the all-new Peugeot e-208 GTi. Even better: it surpasses them on several technical points, while boasting a particularly aggressive price tag.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Lancia Ypsilon HF begins its launch campaign in Italy, where it will go on sale on June 25, 2025.<\/strong> But it's in Spain, where it's produced, that the most important information is revealed: its price. Priced at \u20ac41,519, the Ypsilon HF plays in the big league... and is directly aimed at the new Alpine A290 GT Performance and the 208 GTi electric car recently unveiled at the 24 Hours of Le Mans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Beneath its sharp looks, the Ypsilon HF hides a 100 % electric powertrain developing 280 hp. Enough to accelerate from 0 to 100 km\/h in 5.6 seconds. By comparison, the Alpine A290 GT Performance boasts 220 hp for a 0 to 100 in 6.4 seconds, while the Alfa Romeo Junior Veloce is claimed to take 5.9 seconds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But Lancia hasn't stopped at the specification sheet. The Ypsilon HF is equipped with a Torsen differential,<\/strong> as on the Junior Veloce or Abarth 600e, for optimum driveability. It also benefits from Alcon Motorsport brakes,<\/strong> a guarantee of long-lasting braking, and a lowered chassis with wider tracks,<\/strong> for razor-sharp handling. In short, it ticks all the boxes of a true small sports car.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Well-thought-out price positioning<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

At \u20ac41,519, the Lancia Ypsilon HF is almost on a par with the Alpine A290 GT Performance, priced at \u20ac41,700,<\/strong> but with 60 more horsepower and better performance. The same applies to the Peugeot e-208 GTi, presented as a technical cousin: the two models share the same platform, but the Ypsilon accelerates from 0 to 100 km\/h in 5.6 seconds, compared with 5.7 seconds for the French model.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As for range, although Lancia has not yet officially confirmed it, we can expect a value close to 350 to 360 km WLTP, which is what both the Peugeot and the Alpine offer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It remains to be seen whether Lancia's charm will work in the face of the growing popularity of French electric sports cars. One thing's for sure: the battle for the 100 % electric city sports car is well and truly on.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
