Ferrari<\/a> is preparing to shake up its GT range with a new model that could well mark an unexpected return to a technical solution thought to have been forgotten: the retractable hardtop. While the canvas-topped Ferrari Roma Spider was not unveiled until 2023, the Maranello-based brand is already preparing a replacement... with a hardtop.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Amalfi, an evolution... or a revolution?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The name is not yet official, but there's every reason to believe that the next Ferrari will be called Amalfi.<\/strong> Ferrari has registered the names \"Amalfi\" and \"Amalfi Spider\", reinforcing the idea that two versions will be offered as early as this summer. The presentation is expected to take place at a private event in Amalfi, Italy, from July 1-3, 2025. A way of extending the heritage of the Roma, itself conceived as a tribute to the Italian dolce vita.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But where things get interesting is that the Ferrari Amalfi Spider may abandon the canvas roof and return to a retractable hardtop,<\/strong> like the Ferrari California (2008) and Portofino (2017). A solution that offers greater comfort and soundproofing, while enhancing the elegance of a coup\u00e9-cabriolet line.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Roma Spider out, Portofino back on?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Introduced in 2023, the Ferrari Roma Spider had only a short career. Taking the code name F169M, the future Amalfi is a direct evolution of the Roma (F169). But it could well take advantage of this to merge the heritages of two models: the Roma Spider for its sleek, modern styling, and the Portofino for its hardtop concept.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

All in all, the Ferrari Amalfi Spider would be both the replacement for the Roma Spider and the true heir to the Portofino,<\/strong> a model that had itself succeeded the California.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Still a V8, but a revised ambience<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In terms of powertrains, Ferrari remains true to its classics: the twin-turbo V8 is retained, without hybridization. An assertive choice, at odds with the galloping electrification of the market. The interior, meanwhile, should take its inspiration from the recent 12Cilindri, abandoning the Roma's central tablet for a sleeker, more upscale interface.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Camouflaged prototypes have already been spotted, and rumors suggest a price increase of 20 % compared to Roma.<\/strong> In fact, pre-orders began as early as March 2025, a sign that Ferrari customers are confident in this new generation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
