It's now official: automotive industry veteran Antonio Filosa, a loyal member of the former Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) group, will take over the reins of Stellantis<\/a> from June 23, 2025. <\/strong>This appointment comes after the surprise resignation of Carlos Tavares<\/a>effective from December 1, 2024, putting an end to months of waiting and speculation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A pure product of the Fiat galaxy<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

With over 25 years' experience within the group, Antonio Filosa is anything but an unknown.<\/strong> Having held the highest positions in South America, then in North America, he has left a lasting impression through his concrete results. In South America, he took the Fiat brand to market leadership, while accelerating the growth of Peugeot, Citro\u00ebn, Ram and Jeep.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

His appointment as CEO of Jeep worldwide has enabled him to strengthen the brand's presence not only in the USA, but also in Europe, where the Jeep Avenger has become a commercial success.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Proven leadership<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Since December 2024, Antonio Filosa has been Chief Operating Officer for the Americas.<\/strong> During this period, he distinguished himself by reducing excessive dealer inventories in the United States, reorganizing management teams and preparing for the arrival of new models and powertrains.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

All these successes convinced the Stellantis board of directors to give him full powers.<\/strong> An extraordinary meeting of shareholders will be called shortly to formalize his election as executive director.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A strategic transition<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

\"Antonio deeply understands our business and our industry. He arrives at a key moment in Stellantis' development,\" said John Elkann, Group Executive Chairman. He added that he had worked closely with Filosa over the last few months and praised his \"strong and effective leadership\".<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Robert Peugeot, Vice-Chairman of Stellantis, and Nicolas Dufourcq, CEO of Bpifrance, also welcomed the appointment, which marks \"a new chapter for the company\".<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Italy back in the driving seat?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The return of an Italian at the helm of Stellantis is no mean feat.<\/strong> After years under Franco-Portuguese management, this appointment could revive the peninsula's influence in the group's strategic decisions, at a time when the Italian government is keeping a close eye on the future of its national brands (Fiat, Alfa Romeo, Lancia, Maserati).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
