And while the team is concentrating on aerodynamic adjustments, the problem seems to run deeper. The real cause of this persistent instability: <strong>faulty rear suspension. <\/strong>A major change is in the offing, but as the latest information indicates, we'll probably have to wait until Silverstone, halfway through the season, to see the correction. By then, the gap with the grid leaders is likely to have widened even further.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The SF25: a fundamentally unstable car<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Since the Melbourne Grand Prix, the evil has been identified: <strong>the SF25 suffers from a faulty rear suspension. <\/strong>This flaw was highlighted in the very first races of the season. Although aerodynamics were a focal point of the discussions, particularly the management of the flexible winglets, it was the rear suspension that really upset the car's balance. The results on the track were unmistakable: the SF25 became unstable at every turn, an instability which manifested itself, depending on the settings, in excessive wear of the flat floor, as was the case in Shanghai.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Despite a number of adjustments, Ferrari's engineers were unable to get the most out of the SF25. According to information from sources close to the team, relayed by the media outlet AutoRacer, inefficient mechanical settings and poor ride height management made the car difficult to control.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A long overdue development<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>As revealed a few days ago, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.italpassion.fr\/en\/competition\/formula-1\/ferrari-f1-the-sf25-does-not-work-the-problem-is-identified-difficult-to-correct-and-waiting-for-an-evolution\/\">Ferrari working on a new rear suspension<\/a>. But introducing such an evolution is far from straightforward. Engineers must first validate the design on a simulator, then manufacture and test the parts on track. The new rear suspension should arrive at Silverstone for the 12th Grand Prix of the season, scheduled for July.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is delicate timing, especially as the competition will have had the opportunity to widen the gap considerably before the arrival of this evolution. Other indications suggest that the new suspension could arrive earlier, but this remains uncertain. According to AutoRacer, the evolution will be tested in the wind tunnel next week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While waiting for Silverstone, Ferrari will be making a few improvements at Imola and Barcelona. However, these additions will be minor. The new bottom for Imola and a few parts for Barcelona won't solve the SF25's fundamental problems. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.italpassion.fr\/en\/competition\/formula-1\/ferrari-f1-fred-vasseur-gives-team-an-ultimatum-before-reinitialization-at-maranello\/\">In Barcelona, a \"reset\" is planned<\/a>But a significant evolution will only be possible at Silverstone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Impact on the season<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>If the major evolution is indeed planned for Silverstone, <\/strong>Ferrari will have fallen well behind schedule before it can really begin to rectify the shortcomings of its SF25. Time is running out, and the points already lost will not be easy to make up. The gap between Ferrari and leader McLaren is set to widen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The SF25 problem could thus have repercussions right up to the end of the 2025 season. The question now is whether Scuderia Ferrari will be able to recover not only its technical backlog, but also its championship position.
