An automotive monster is set to rock the auction block this summer in Monterey, California. And not just any car: a 1995 Ferrari F50 belonging to the famous designer Ralph Lauren, estimated at between $6.5 and $7.5 million. An astronomical sum for a legendary supercar... but this one is anything but ordinary.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

An F50 like no other<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Already rare in its own right, 349 examples produced to celebrate 50 years of Ferrari<\/a>The F50 is considered an icon of the 1990s, with its Formula 1-derived V12 engine, carbon monocoque chassis and Pininfarina design. But the example offered for sale by RM Sotheby's on August 15 is even more exceptional: this is one of only two models delivered in the USA in the Giallo Modena color.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Commissioned new by Ralph Lauren, this F50 joined his famous private collection in 1995. It remained there for eight years, alongside other automotive legends such as the Ferrari 250 GTO, the McLaren F1 and the Bugatti Veyron. In 2003, it changed hands to join the collection of a couple of discreet enthusiasts, who have cherished it for over 20 years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A unique pedigree<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The car has rarely been exhibited to the public. Last seen in 2009, it has covered just 8,200 km (5,400 miles) since delivery.<\/strong> It is, of course, certified Ferrari Classiche, with a clear history and scrupulously preserved original components.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Why it could break a price record<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Just a few years ago, a Ferrari F50 would fetch between 4 and 5 million euros. But the explosion of the collector car market, combined with this model's exceptional provenance, ultra-rare color and impeccable condition, could well push bidding to new heights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the ultra-competitive world of vintage hypercars, this F50 ticks all the boxes: limited production, racing engine, prestigious history, colorimetric exclusivity. On the eve of its 30th birthday, it embodies the very best of what Ferrari knew how to do.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
