A thunderclap in the automotive world after the official announcement of the replacement of Benedetto Vigna by... Carlos Tavares, ex-CEO of Stellantis!<\/strong> A choice which, at first glance, may seem surprising, but in fact is not as unexpected as it seems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The announcement was made this morning by Ferrari<\/a>in a sober statement. The brand warmly thanks Benedetto Vigna for his exceptional contributions to the company, while saluting his fundamental role in the digital transformation and expansion of Ferrari production worldwide. But that's not all. It's now clear that Ferrari is banking on a change of direction, at a time when electrification is increasingly at the heart of the automotive industry.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Carlos Tavares, who resigned as CEO of Stellantis in December 2024<\/a>, has been chosen to lead the famous prancing horse brand into a more electrified future. <\/strong>A strategic choice, say some observers. Tavares, having orchestrated the electric shift at Stellantis, may well have been perceived as the right man to lead Ferrari into the electromobility era.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the one hand, Tavares has steered Stellantis' energy transition, with the promise of 100% electric models for all the group's brands. But it's Ferrari that seems to be the ultimate step in this transition. Visit launch of Ferrari's first electric 100% model<\/a> is scheduled for October 2025, and some believe that Tavares would be best placed to orchestrate this historic moment.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rumors are rife as to the first decisions he might take at Ferrari. Some are already talking about scrapping the V12 and V8 engines that have made Ferrari legendary. According to these speculations, Tavares could reduce the brand's engine ranges by retaining only the V6 hybrid engine and electric drive. <\/strong>Of course, these are just rumors at the moment, but one thing is certain: Ferrari, traditionally faithful to its combustion engines, seems to be preparing for a major break.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition, the choice of Carlos Tavares to take the reins of Ferrari makes strategic sense. <\/strong>He has already demonstrated his ability to develop iconic brands while preserving their DNA.
