In 2027, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.italpassion.fr\/en\/alfa-romeo\/\">Alfa Romeo<\/a> was to become 100 % electric. However, the latest news from the brand is a little different.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Switching to electric, yes, but with hybrids<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The model <strong>Junior<\/strong>just launched, marked a turning point by being the first model <strong>100 % electric<\/strong> from Alfa Romeo, while also being offered in a hybrid version. This model introduced the brand to all-electric motorization. Today, however, all eyes are on Alfa Romeo's <strong>new Stelvio and Giulia<\/strong>The electric version will be the priority.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Initially, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.italpassion.fr\/en\/alfa-romeo\/alfa-romeo-une-gamme-100-electrique-en-2027\/\">strategy <strong>100 % electric<\/strong> for Alfa Romeo seemed clear<\/a>. However, this approach has been nuanced recently, notably during the <strong>Paris Motor Show<\/strong> in Paris in 2024. Alfa Romeo officials had unofficially indicated that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.italpassion.fr\/en\/alfa-romeo\/alfa-romeo-finally-postpones-transition-to-100-electric-range\/\">from <strong>hybrid versions<\/strong> will eventually be incorporated into future models<\/a>This was a pragmatic decision to ensure the brand's survival, particularly after it became clear that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.italpassion.fr\/en\/alfa-romeo\/alfa-romeo-junior-the-majority-of-orders-are-for-hybrid-thermals\/\">the majority of the Junior's orders are in the <strong>hybrid thermals<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Then, at the <strong>Brussels Motor Show<\/strong> in January 2025, the new <strong>Alfa Romeo CEO, Santo Ficili<\/strong>confirmed that the brand would continue its electric drive. However, he added that <strong>hybrid versions of the future Stelvio and Giulia will be available, but not immediately<\/strong>. Priority will be given to engines <strong>100 % electric<\/strong>followed by hybrid versions. According to Ficili, this decision was taken for the following reasons <strong>investment<\/strong> and <strong>planning<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><svg aria-hidden=\"true\" focusable=\"false\" class=\"icon icon-quote\" width=\"48\" height=\"48\"><use xlink:href=\"#icon-quote\"><\/use><\/svg>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"We'll start with electric motors first, then hybrids for reasons of investment, planning and compliance with the new emissions limits.\" Santo Ficili - CEO Alfa Romeo<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Alfa Romeo prefers to focus on electric vehicles first<\/strong>which has benefited from massive investment. The timing of this strategy is also linked to the development of production capacity at Stellantis, notably with the <strong>Hungary<\/strong>where electric motor production <strong>800V<\/strong> is scheduled to come on stream in early 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Stelvio hybrid: an unavoidable delay<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So when will we see a <strong>Stelvio hybrid<\/strong> ? If the teams responsible decided in 2024 that this model should ultimately also be a hybrid in addition to electric, the answer seems obvious: <strong>probably not before 2026<\/strong>. The hybrid version of the Stelvio could be powered by the <strong>1.6L EP6 Gen3 PHEV<\/strong>which can already be found on models such as the <strong>Peugeot 3008<\/strong> and <strong>5008<\/strong>where it develops 195 hp.
