It's been almost a year since Maserati<\/a> a announced a significant delay in the launch of its new models<\/a>. These include the new Levante SUV, scheduled for 2027, and the new-generation Quattroporte, expected in 2028. In the absence of official information, the suspense remains, the future Quattroporte luxury sedan may be turning a corner in terms of design.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Quattroporte: a \"revolutionary car\" according to the ex-CEO<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

When Davide Grasso, former CEO of Maserati (replaced in November 2024 by Santo Ficili), announced almost a year ago<\/a>that the new Quattroporte would be \"redesigned to be one of a kind\".<\/strong>. Grasso went on to stress that Maserati had carried out an \"in-depth analysis of the automotive market\", noting \"rapid and radical changes\". His objective was clear: \"To create a revolutionary car that redefines the concept of luxury.\"<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

But despite these announcements, little information has filtered out about the details of this car so eagerly awaited by dealers and customers alike.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A radical change of style?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

According to our information, it is quite possible thathe future Quattroporte abandons its classic sedan design in favor of fastback styling<\/strong>A change of silhouette that would come as no surprise in the current context of the automotive industry. Indeed, a sportier, more aerodynamic Quattroporte, resembling a large hatchback, could find itself up against the likes of the Porsche Taycan<\/strong>a direct competitor in the luxury electric sports segment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nor would it be without recall the Jaguar Type 00 concept<\/strong>a model that also unveiled this fastback body style. The Quattroporte's switch to a fastback design would also offer a more practical alternative to the old trunk configuration. The hatchback trunk, more functional and adapted to modern needs, would blend in better with the sporty lines of the future model.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Style change not the only reason for delay<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

While the question of design remains central, it does not seem to be the main reason for the delay in launching the new Quattroporte.<\/strong>. In reality, other constraints such as the brand's marketing positioning and technical reasons such as the choice of platform (STLA Large or Giorgio evo) and electric technologies are probably at the root of the delays. Especially since the future Quattroporte and Ghibli will now be merged into a single model, so there's no question of missing out on the marketing positioning of the brand's only sedan<\/strong>. It should be noted that Porsche is thinking of a different strategy, wishing to offer a Porsche Taycan (4.9m) and the future electric Porsche Panamera (5.2m) at the same time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But 2028 still seems a long way off <\/strong>to discover the new Maserati Quattroporte. Remember that Maserati is due to present a structured, powerful product plan<\/a>.
