Alfa Romeo<\/a> faces another major recall campaign in the United States<\/strong>this time for models Giulia and Stelvio for 2019 and 2020<\/strong>. The recall affects 2,021 vehicles and is triggered by a problem with the braking system, more specifically a risk of brake pedal disconnection. This is not the first time the Italian brand has faced safety problems, having been forced to recall 20,000 Alfa Romeo Tonales in the USA earlier this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Risk of brake pedal detachment<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The problem lies in a component of the braking system, specifically a connector linking the brake pedal to the brake booster. According to Stellantis, incorrect assembly of this connector during manufacture could cause the brake pedal to detach from the brake booster<\/strong>. If this disconnection were to occur, the driver could lose the ability to use the brakes, relying solely on the electronic parking brake. This significantly increases the risk of an accident...<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If the connection is partially defective, the driver may hear abnormal noises or feel an unstable brake pedal.<\/strong> The problem was detected in certain models produced between May 30, 2019 and February 6, 2020 for the Giulia, and between May 23, 2019 and December 20, 2019 for the Stelvio. These vehicles were manufactured with faulty components and, after analyzing production and traceability records, the Stellantis Group was able to identify the units concerned.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How many models are affected?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The models Giulia <\/strong>affected by this recall are 1,025 units<\/strong>while the Stelvio <\/strong>are even less numerous, with 996 vehicles<\/strong> affected by this defect.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The recall was issued after Stellantis was informed by its supplier, Continental Automotive Systems, Inc. of a potential problem with the MK C1 braking system used in these vehicles. The supplier was the first to report the problem, enabling Stellantis to launch an investigation into the matter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Previous recalls: Alfa Romeo already in the eye of the storm<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

This new recall campaign follows a previous massive recall launched by Alfa Romeo in the United States. Earlier, in 2024, the brand had already had to recall 20,000 Alfa Romeo Tonale<\/a> (and its close cousin Dodge Hornet) to solve another safety problem. Successive recalls damage Italian brand image<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This latest recall campaign comes at a difficult time for Alfa Romeo, as the brand tries to strengthen its presence in the American market.
