While the brand has always made a point of preserving its image of performance and authenticity, the electrification of its offering seemed inevitable to comply with new environmental standards and meet growing demand for electric vehicles. By 2026, Ferrari expects to produce 40 % combustion-powered cars and 60 % hybrid and electric models. Production of this car will take place <strong>in the brand-new 42,500 m\u00b2 Ferrari E-Building<\/strong>a space designed for the assembly of electric motors, batteries and components specific to electric vehicles. A real innovation, the production of electric motors and battery modules will be carried out at <strong>Maranello<\/strong>to guarantee a unique driving experience, true to Ferrari's DNA.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ferrari CEO John Elkann has told shareholders that his ambitious goal for 2021 is to create <strong>an electric car that would offer driving sensations as exceptional as those of a combustion Ferrari<\/strong>. The batteries, hand-made in Maranello, will be integrated into the chassis to reduce weight and improve performance. Ferrari has relied on innovative solutions to ensure that the driving experience is true to its reputation: engine power, lightness, sound and driving emotions will be key features of this model.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ferrari has filed patents to equip <a href=\"https:\/\/www.italpassion.fr\/en\/ferrari\/ferrari-works-on-sound-signatures-for-its-electric-cars\/\">its electric vehicles with a unique sound identity<\/a>to <strong>compensate for the absence of the characteristic roar of its combustion engines<\/strong>. The brand relies on innovative sound solutions to create a sonic atmosphere that immerses drivers in a driving experience as intense as that of traditional Ferraris.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The brand has invested heavily in research and development<\/strong> of its electric models, with R&amp;D costs reaching 647 million euros in the first nine months of 2024, compared with 628 million a year earlier. \"Increasing amounts of R&amp;D are being devoted to the development of electric vehicles and autonomous driving, while other funds are being deployed to improve vehicle safety.\"<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The challenges of electrification: a possible failure?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Despite Ferrari's stated ambitions, the challenge remains daunting. L<strong>he market for electric luxury and sports cars<\/strong> is still relatively new and<strong> could prove ruthless<\/strong>. Maserati, with its Folgore range, did not achieve the results it had hoped for. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.italpassion.fr\/en\/maserati\/maserati-grecale-folgore-2025-price-cut-for-electric-suv-except-in-one-country\/\">lowers the price of its electric suv<\/a>and Lamborghini, which <a href=\"https:\/\/www.italpassion.fr\/en\/lamborghini\/lamborghini-postpones-the-launch-of-its-100-electric-car-the-market-is-not-ready\/\">pushes back its first electric model to 2029<\/a>The market is not yet ready. On a different note, the very exclusive Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale, available in a limited edition of 33 units in both internal combustion and electric versions, is said to have been sold out. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.italpassion.fr\/en\/alfa-romeo\/alfa-romeo-33-stradale-the-first-electric-supercar-of-stellantis-doesnt-wake-up\/\">only one or two electric models<\/a>. The market is tough, and Ferrari could well find itself in a similar position if its electric model fails to meet consumer expectations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ferrari's successful electrification could make it <strong>a new benchmark<\/strong> of the high-end electric vehicle market, but if the gamble fails, it could well <strong>mark a first failure<\/strong>with a rethink of its objectives.
