The Fiat Panda, an emblematic model of the Italian automotive landscape, still has many years to live. <\/strong>Produced at the Pomigliano d'Arco plant since 2011, it has spanned the decades as a popular and practical car, particularly appreciated for its compactness and value for money. However, the end of this iconic version's career seemed inevitable, due to new European standards for reducing CO2 emissions and the goal of switching to 100 % electric by 2035. But now, against all odds, a new Fiat<\/a> Panda could be on its way, and this time it's made in Italy!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

A surprising announcement<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The announcement was made at a meeting in Italy, where Jean-Philippe Imparato, CEO of Stellantis Europe, presented a production plan for Italy that exceeded expectations. Indeed, the presentation.., he revealed that the Fiat Panda would continue to have a place in the future of Italian motoring.<\/strong>. Rather than disappear with the end of production of the current model, a completely new model is planned for the Pomigliano d'Arco plant<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Fiat Panda and Pandina are currently produced at the Pomigliano d'Arco plant, but production is coming to an end. Although the the current model has been extended to 2030<\/a> to maintain plant activity, theThe current Panda no longer meets the strict requirements of the new European regulations on CO2 emissions.<\/strong>. What's more, the Stellantis Group's ambitions for the future include a transition to 100 % electric production by 2035, and it was hard to imagine a combustion Panda surviving this transition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is all the more of a surprise given that the all-new Fiat Grande Panda is manufactured in Tychy, Poland, where production costs are much lower. Moreover, at the beginning of the year, Nicolas Dufourcq, non-executive director of Stellantis and director of BPI France, had declared that it was unlikely that Italy would be able to produce an electric entry-level model<\/a>This is due to the higher production costs on the peninsula. And yet, the announcement of the production of a new Fiat Panda in Italy breaks this economic logic.<\/strong>making this decision a welcome surprise for the Italian industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

New electric Fiat Panda: what we know about it<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Details are still sketchy at this stage, but a few things are already known. The new Fiat Panda, which could be launched from 2030<\/strong>will be built on the STLA Small platform<\/strong>a platform dedicated to small electric and hybrid vehicles. Although the electric version is the most likely for 2030, a hybrid version could also be envisaged, depending on the automotive context.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This model could thus offer not only Italian consumers, but also European ones, a small, competitively priced 100 % electric car<\/strong>This is a key segment for the automotive energy transition. However, one of the surprising elements of this production plan is that, for the moment, the Pomigliano d'Arco plant will produce just one model<\/strong>. This seems somewhat risky.
