And yet, <strong>2024 saw a sharp drop in volumes,<\/strong> with only <strong>just over 20,000 units expected<\/strong> according to Italian trade unions. This figure illustrates a worrying trend: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.italpassion.fr\/en\/stellantis\/stellantis-the-mirafiori-plant-producing-the-electric-fiat-500-is-closed-until-2025\/\">Mirafiori plant idles<\/a>and <strong>the appeal of the electric Fiat 500 is waning.<\/strong> Why?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A small electric city car for a fierce, pragmatic market<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The initial success of the electric Fiat 500 was based on its novelty status and the generous<strong>s aids to purchase in Europe<\/strong>particularly in France and Germany. These vehicles, although in higher categories than the electric Fiat 500, offer <strong>more generous benefits in terms of autonomy and versatility.<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Compared with these rivals, the current electric Fiat 500, priced at \u20ac34,000, suffers from <strong>obvious limitations <\/strong>A range of 330 km (which is actually more like 220-250 km) and 118 horsepower, designed for strictly urban use. Designed as a chic, trendy city car, it struggles to compete with more modern, versatile models. One of the reasons why <a href=\"https:\/\/www.italpassion.fr\/en\/fiat\/fiat-500e-the-sauce-still-doesnt-take-in-the-usa-heres-why\/\">it is unable to break into the North American market<\/a>. Carlos Tavares, then CEO of the Group, confirmed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.italpassion.fr\/en\/fiat\/fiat-500-electric-stellantis-invests-100-million-euros-to-boost-sales\/\">invest 100 million euros in an advanced version of the electric Fiat 500<\/a> is launched. <strong>Future model promises to be less expensive, with greater range<\/strong>which could make the current version even less attractive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For consumers, this announcement raises an obvious question: <strong>is it worth investing in an electric Fiat 500 today?<\/strong> when a much-improved version is imminent? The answer is probably no, because the release of the new model in 2025 (we hope) will result in a <strong>significant drop in the residual value of the current version<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A transition is necessary: prices must be lowered<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For Fiat, the transition to the new model in 2025 represents a strategic challenge. In order to limit losses and maintain interest in the current electric Fiat 500,<strong> it would be in the manufacturer's interest to significantly lower its price as of January 2025<\/strong>.
