The election for \"Car of the Year 2025\" is in full swing, and among those the 41 models initially entered in the competition<\/a>, one Italian car stood out: the Alfa Romeo Junior.<\/strong> While the Fiat Grande Panda, Maserati GranTurismo and Maserati Grecale were also in the running, only the Junior made the shortlist of seven. Here's a look back at the announcement and the strengths that make the Junior a serious contender for the title.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Compact, sporty and (half) Italian, Alfa Romeo Junior<\/a> embodies the rebirth of the brand under Stellantis. It won over the jury (made up of 60 automotive journalists from 23 European countries) with its dynamic design, true to Alfa Romeo style, while incorporating cutting-edge technologies. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

With 42 models initially in the running, the competition promised to be tough. The list of 7 finalists included such benchmarks as the Renault 5 E-Tech, the Citro\u00ebn \u00eb-C3\/C3 and the Cupra Tavascan, all vehicles that embody the future of the automobile.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It had been a long time since a Alfa Romeo<\/a> had not reached this stage of the competition. Lhe last Car of the Year was the 147, in 2001.<\/strong> And let's not forget the Alfa Romeo 156 in 1998. Today, with the Junior, Alfa Romeo is back with a vengeance, flying the Italian flag in a competition dominated by European and Asian manufacturers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The winner will be announced on January 10, 2025,<\/strong> at the Brussels International Motor Show. Until then, the Alfa Romeo Junior and its six rivals will be subjected to dynamic testing and in-depth analysis.
