In the automotive world, it's not uncommon to see recall campaigns for a variety of reasons, but this one is likely to leave a lasting impression thanks to its originality. Fiat has decided to recall all Fiat Topolino models in Italy.<\/strong>and the reason is unusual, to say the least.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The affair began with a controversy linked to Italian sounding, a phenomenon in which products are presented as Italian when they are not. This phenomenon has already affected Alfa Romeo, forcing the brand to rename its Milano model Junior<\/a>. Then it was the turn of the Fiat Topolino to be in the spotlight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Italian customs have in fact Fiat Topolino models for sale<\/a> proudly displaying the Italian flag on their flanks. The problem? These cars are actually made in Morocco, and the use of the Italian flag on a product not made in Italy is strictly regulated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To avoid any confusion and bounce back from the affair with a sense of humor, Fiat took a rather unexpected decision. The manufacturer has sent a recall email to all its Fiat Topolino customers,<\/strong> informing them of its initiative to remove the Italian flag stickers. Here's the message the owners received:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"Dear customer,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We'd like to inform you of an initiative that Fiat has chosen to undertake in recent weeks. As you may have noticed, your Topolino has two small stickers featuring the Italian flag on the sides, near the doors. In view of some recent misunderstandings, we're at your disposal to remove them at our expense. All you have to do is visit your authorized Fiat repairer. If you have already sold your car, please let us know the name and address of the new owner.\"<\/p>\n\n\n\n

By playing the humor card, Fiat is hoping to make a mockery of the situation and demonstrate its responsiveness to the regulations.<\/strong> by the Italian government. Fiat Topolino owners are therefore invited to visit their authorized repairer to have these stickers removed. Fiat will cover all costs and carry out the operation as quickly as possible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
