Since its launch in 2022, the Tonale has marked the beginning of a new era for Alfa Romeo<\/a> under the direction of Stellantis. The recent arrival of the Junior SUV<\/a> in Europe demonstrates the brand's ongoing commitment to enriching its range. After these launches, Alfa Romeo is preparing two other major milestones with the new Stelvio scheduled for 2025 and the new Giulia for 2026<\/strong>. But that's not all. A recent document reveals major changes in the brand's future plans, including assembly of a new SUV in the United States.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

As a reminder, in a document we obtained dating back to 2021, Alfa Romeo had announced a new Giulietta on the STLA Medium platform for 2027 and a new Tonale for late 2027\/early 2028.<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, a more recent document, published by the cochespias website, reveals significant revisions to these plans. The new Tonale is confirmed for 2027, and the new Giulietta has been replaced by a large electric SUV,<\/strong> \"E-CUV EV<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The big surprise is that this new E-SUV will be assembled in the United States<\/strong>in Detroit's Stellantis plant. This plant, modernized for $900 million in 2019, completed its transformation in 2022 to produce the current Jeep Grand Cherokee. Also scheduled for 2027 and based on the STLA Large platform, the new Grand Cherokee will share this platform with Alfa Romeo's new E-SUV.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This large SUV won't be a first for Alfa Romeo, because such a project had already been envisaged during the FCA era<\/strong> (see the document below showing the sharing of components between the Jeep Grand Cherokee and the Alfa Romeo E-SUV 964). <\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, this time, the plans are more concrete and are clearly aimed at competing with prestigious models such as the BMW iX<\/strong>Lotus Eletre and the future electric Porsche Cayenne. This new E-SUV will stand out from its competitors by its reduced height, as Jean-Philippe Imparato assured us<\/a>CEO of Alfa Romeo. This choice is aimed at improving aerodynamic efficiency and offering a more dynamic design. In comparison, the BMW iX starts at \u20ac84,200, while the Lotus Eletre starts at \u20ac97,890. Although Alfa Romeo is primarily targeting North America and China with this model, its arrival in Europe remains uncertain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With these new perspectives, Alfa Romeo continues to strengthen its presence in the SUV market.<\/strong> We'll have to wait until 2028 to see either a new Giulietta or a large Alfetta sedan.
