Named after its 500 cm3 twin-cylinder engine. A car that was intended to be very popular and therefore inexpensive given the economic context of the time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Fiat 500 &quot;Topolino&quot; 1936\" width=\"1200\" height=\"675\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube-nocookie.com\/embed\/lDOadIzNuaM?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>This first 500 was quite a success, with over 500,000 units produced at the time. However, and this is the reason for this article, <strong>this emblematic model is known not as the 500 but as the Topolino. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Topolino is the Italian name for Mickey, from Disney.<\/strong> So it was unofficially named by the Italians, who found it reminiscent of the Mickey character, with its large grille and two round lights. It was a name that stuck to the model, yet remained unofficial, as there was never any partnership between Fiat and Disney at the time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So that's what was made official in 2023.
