If one thing is certain, it's that the development of new combustion engines is well underway at Stellantis<\/strong>. This is due to the law that will ban the sale of cars equipped with these engines by 2035 in many European countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And that's a shame, because the internal combustion engine, a true feat of engineering, still had a lot to show. Proof with the GME T6, an in-line 6-cylinder created by FCA<\/strong> before the merger with PSA, which could have been installed in a Alfa Romeo<\/a> and even a Maserati<\/a>... only to be available in a handful of Jeeps sold in the USA...<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This GME T6, presented in Q1 2022 by FCA, nicknamed Hurricane, is none other than the GME T4 to which 2 cylinders have been added<\/strong>and various improvements (new EGR system, etc.). <\/p>\n\n\n\n

As a reminder, the GME T4 is the 4-cylinder engine found in 200, 280 and 330 hp versions at Alfa Romeo in the Giulia and Stelvio, and at Maserati in the Ghibli and Grecale. Jeep USA also offers a 380hp PHEV version.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For those who have a 4-cylinder in their car, you'll recognize the same engine cover...<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This GME T6 is perfectly suited to the Giorgio platform<\/strong> and could, why not, complement the 2.9L and 3.0L V6 engines of the Alfa Romeo Quadrioglio and Maserati MC20, Grecale Trofeo or new Granturismo. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It could even replace the V6, as this in-line 6-cylinder is compatible with plug-in hybrid technology, which could have been of interest in Europe to lower CO2 emissions... But it will probably never see the light of day, unless it becomes necessary in the USA.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There are currently two versions of this in-line 6-cylinder engine:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
