Pininfarina, the legendary Italian coachbuilder, is causing a stir (especially on the stock market) with the announcement of the signing of a commercial agreement worth 90 million euros. This three-year agreement has been signed with an original equipment manufacturer (OEM), whose identity remains a secret. The mystery surrounding this partner has sparked a wave of speculation in the automotive industry, while also stimulating investor interest.
This agreement, which runs until April 2026, is part of the development and production of an unprecedented hypercar. Although details of the project are kept under lock and key, it is clear that the partnership represents a major new opportunity for Pininfarina, which continues to position itself as a key player in the design of ultra-luxury vehicles such as the Battista, billed at 2 million euros.
According to available information, some preliminary design activities had already been launched in 2023, on the basis of specific orders. However, the new agreement structures a much broader commitment, which will see the bulk of the work concentrated over the next two years.
The veil of mystery surrounding the identity of this automaker has nevertheless fueled speculation and generated excitement around Pininfarina. Indeed, the news of this deal has made the company's share price soared, with a significant increase of more than 7 %. This positive market reaction reflects investors' confidence in the potential of this collaboration, despite the uncertainty surrounding the identity of the partner.
It's not the first time Pininfarina has played the mystery card. Recently, the brand presented the Targamerica hypercar, a special version of the famous Battista inspired by Gianni Agnelli's legendary spider, at Monterey Car Week. Another Battista-derived one-off, the Piece of Cambiano, was also unveiled, paying homage to Pininfarina's hometown.
In our opinion, this will be a new electric hypercar, as all Pininfarina's latest projects have been electric vehicles. The Targamericana, a one-off produced at the request of a customer, is equipped with four electric motors for a power output of 1,900 hp.
