Receive a Pagani is already a privilege reserved for a handful of enthusiasts around the world. But transforming this hypercar into an intimate, personal tribute is something quite different. That's exactly what Saudi billionaire Dhiaa Al-Essa, known for the past decade for his impressive collection of over 30 supercars already assembled at the age of just 21, has done. Fifteen years later, in 2025, he wrote a new page in his automotive history with the Pagani Utopia Roadster "La Nonna", a one-off model priced at $3.4 million.

A Pagani designed as a memorial
Named "La Nonna" (Italian for grandmother), this Utopia is much more than an 864hp hypercar powered by a 6.0-liter Mercedes-AMG twin-turbo V12. It's a rolling memorial to Dhiaa Al-Essa's late grandmother, Malak. The choice of name is not insignificant: it refers both to this central Al-Essa family figure and to the mythical Pagani Zonda "La Nonna" (chassis #76002), the prototype that served as the basis for all Zonda variants, now on display at the Pagani Museum.

Intimate details built into the hypercar
What really sets this Utopia apart are the personal details incorporated into its design. The body is made of exposed carbon tinted with Nero Kajal, a deep black reminiscent of traditional Middle Eastern women's make-up. Inside, Pagani has gone so far as to include the names of Al-Essa's mother, son and daughter, as well as reproductions of their childhood drawings. Even the personalized luggage that accompanies the car bears the inscription "La Nonna", complemented by sketches recalling family memories.

On his Instagram account, Al-Essa emotionally shared the various stages in the manufacture of "La Nonna": from alignment of the bodywork to delivery to the Modena factory. On handing over the keys, he described "a moment engraved forever in his memory".

"Every detail has been meticulously thought out with art and passion. Thank you to the Pagani family for making this dream a reality," he wrote, before announcing that he would be driving "La Nonna" to the prestigious Pagani Raduno Vanishing Point, an exclusive gathering of owners held in Italy.

Pagani, there's no other dream car quite like it.
