The Maserati MCXtrema will be the star of the SPA 24h... and it's already putting on a show!

Twenty years after the MC12 feat, Maserati returns in majesty to the legendary Spa-Francorchamps circuit. In 2025, it's the radical Maserati MCXtrema that takes on the starring role, as the Official Leading Car of the 24 Hours of Spa CrowdStrike.

Tribute to MC12

The year is 2005. On a track made treacherous by capricious weather, the Vitaphone Racing team scored a historic victory in the 24 Hours of Spa, thanks to the exceptional Maserati MC12 driven by Michael Bartels, Timo Scheider and Eric van de Poele. This victory was followed by two more, in 2006 and 2008, making the MC12 an integral part of the endurance racing pantheon.

In 2025, on the 20th anniversary of that first victory, Maserati pays tribute to its glorious past by lining up its latest radical creation, the MCXtrema, to open the most prestigious event on the GT calendar.

MCXtrema special for the occasion

The MCXtrema, an ultra-limited series track car (62 units), is decked out in a blue and black livery directly inspired by that of the Vitaphone team's MC12 GT1. On the hood, a huge Trident in contrast. On the sides, a subtle play of lettering featuring the names of the brand's greatest models, its legendary drivers and the circuits where Maserati has shone.

Another strong link with history has been forged: Andrea Bertolini, multiple GT1 campaign champion with the MC12, takes the wheel of the MCXtrema in the traditional parade from the circuit to the city center. The public, massed along the route, gave the Maserati a standing ovation, its extreme looks and roar reminiscent of the brand's racing DNA.

Maserati out in force all weekend

Maserati is not content with a symbolic role. The Trident will be omnipresent during the competition weekend, supplying all the official vehicles (Leading Car, Safety Car, Medical Car) thanks to a partnership with SRO Motorsports Group. These include the MCXtrema, the MC20, two Grecale (in Trofeo thermal and Folgore electric versions), and of course two Maserati GT2s lining up for the race.

The #7 model from the DINAMIC Motorsport team (Pampanini / Calamia) and the #1 car from LP Racing (Philippe Prette) will attempt to continue the brand's sporting comeback in the GT2 European Series by Pirelli, of which Spa marks the 3rd round of the season.

As the Maria Contidirector of Maserati Corse :
