Maserati unveils a new titanium exhaust system to enhance the sound of its supercar! But it has a flaw...

This was one of the main criticisms levelled at Maserati since the introduction of its Nettuno V6: a sound judged to be too quiet, too subdued, compared to the roar of the brand's earlier V8s or even twin-turbo V6s. It's a criticism that we ourselves underlined at the time of the our MC20 test drive. But at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, the Trident brand decided to respond in its own way... or almost.

A new exhaust system from Maserati Corse and TubiStyle

The Italian manufacturer presented a brand-new titanium racing exhaust developed in collaboration with TubiStyle, already responsible for the legendary soundtrack of the Maserati MC12. And it was the Maserati GT2 Stradale, the road-going version of the race car entered in the GT2 championship, which had the honor of inaugurating it. The result? A deeper, more metallic sound. At Goodwood, the GT2 Stradale literally bewitched spectators as it climbed the famous hill.

Here's what Maserati officially says about it:

"The extraordinary mechanical sound comes from a new racing exhaust developed by Maserati Corse in collaboration with TubiStyle. Made from high-quality titanium, this system reduces weight by 7 kg compared with the standard installation, further enhancing the car's dynamic capabilities. Each component is hand-welded to the highest artisanal standards."

A gain in lightness, an assertive style, a sound that finally lives up to Nettuno's temperament: everything seems perfect.

Yes, but...

There is one drawback, however. This new titanium exhaust system, attractive as it is, is not approved for road use. Designed exclusively for track use, it is therefore reserved for owners who intend to enjoy their supercar on track days. Frustrating for those hoping to wake up the neighborhood with a raging cold start...

This titanium Racing exhaust is available as an accessory from Maserati after-sales. for MC20, GT2 Stradale and MCPura models. Pre-orders for this exhaust system are already available from Maserati sales outlets, with delivery scheduled for Q4 2025.

Good news nonetheless

The enthusiasts' message has been heard by Maserati. According to an Italpassion source, an improved exhaust system, this time homologated, is being prepared for the Granturismo and Grancabrio. It should bring the sound of this road-going model a little closer to that of a real racing car, while remaining within legal standards.

This confirms one thing: Maserati, well aware of the expectations in terms of sound emotion, is finally reacting. After a period of transition marked by the search for new technical inspiration, the brand seems once again to want to seduce the senses. And with Maserati, that always begins with the ear.
