A few months after the announcement of Lancia in modern rallying, the story takes an even more revealing turn: the new Ypsilon Rally2 HF Integrale is already unable to keep up with demand. And this time, it's not just internal figures or marketing estimates. In the field, some sporting programs are starting to fall through due to a lack of available cars.
When success becomes a problem
At the end of November 2025, Lancia hit back hard. During a day dedicated to customer teams organized at Satory, the brand had recorded thirty firm orders in a few hoursThis represents more than 8 million euros in orders for a car that has yet to contest an official special stage.

At the time, it already looked like an outstanding commercial success for a niche competition car. In reality, it was only the beginning. In early February 2026, news from the Belgian Rally Championship confirmed what many in the paddock had suspected: there simply weren't enough cars left. Freddy Loix's plan to take part in the entire BRC at the wheel of a Lancia Ypsilon Rally2 had to be abandoned. Scheduled for April, the car will not be available until December. Without Lancia, the sponsor withdrew, putting an end to the program before it had even begun. An isolated case? Clearly not. Behind the scenes, several teams are waiting for their chassis.
Lancia ramps up production
When contacted, the brand implicitly confirms the scale of the situation. The craze has far exceeded initial forecasts. Lancia has already begun to adapt its organization to accelerate car assembly. What was supposed to be a gradual launch has become a hasty roll-out.
The most concrete proof of this: the official entry of a car in the French Rally Championship will be announced very shortly. Just a few months ago, the manufacturer thought it would not be ready for the first round of the 2026 season. Now, it has confirmed its presence at the Rallye du Touquet Pas-de-Calais, which opens the championship on March 26.
In other words, the sporting calendar is being compressed to meet customer demand... but also to prove that the car does exist in real-life conditions.
A return to rallying already validated by the market
This is a rare phenomenon in motorsport. Usually, a manufacturer has to win first in order to sell. Lancia is currently experiencing the opposite: teams are buying even before the first result.
So the success of the Ypsilon Rally2 HF Integrale is not just technical. It's emotional. HF heritage, historic WRC image, credibility provided by Stellantis Motorsport... the project has achieved exactly what a customer program is aiming for: immediate trust. And today, this trust has become an industrial challenge.
If deadlines continue to lengthen, some sports programs will have to wait. But for Lancia, this is probably the biggest problem of all: after years of absence, the brand is returning to rallying... and it's already having to produce faster than expected.

Stellantis always good at forecasting 🤣
In addition to the expectations surrounding the return of this mythical brand, it is also the racing success of the Citroën C3 Rally2 that should boost driver/team interest in this car 😉
Finally, I should also mention that it's the hope that the Ypsilon will be even more powerful than its transalpine cousin 😀
