What is this strange Lamborghini? Replica, tuning or true rarity?

It's the kind of shot that raises the eyebrows of even the most seasoned enthusiasts. Automotive photographer Bryan Lepetit recently shared a series of intriguing photos on the Carspot Worldwide Group. Lamborghini The first thing you'd notice is the unmistakable car parked quietly in a parking lot. Atypical design, surprising proportions... immediately reminiscent of a replica or daring tuning.

And yet, this Lamborghini is neither a counterfeit nor an extravagant tuning project. It is quite simply... a true rarity, almost mythical: the Lamborghini 5-95 Zagato.

A little-known Lamborghini... and ultra-exclusive

If you've never heard of it, you're not alone. Presented in 2014 at the prestigious Villa d'Este Concours d'Elegance, the 5-95 Zagato celebrates the 95th anniversary of Italian coachbuilder Zagato as well as Lamborghini's 50th anniversary. The car is actually a styling exercise based on the Lamborghini Gallardo LP570-4 Superleggera.

Beneath its bodywork, with its radical lines inspired by Zagato's historic styling language (double-hipped roof, rounded volumes, streamlined bumpers), is a 5.2-litre V10 engine from 570 hpall-wheel drive, and an e-gear 6-speed automatic gearbox. Specifications identical to the base Gallardo, but a completely different look and aura.

Five copies, five million?

The Lamborghini 5-95 Zagato is produced in a handful of examples only; some say five units, in reference to its name, although the exact figure has never been officially confirmed. The first model was commissioned by the famous Swiss collector Albert Spiess, which only adds to the machine's mystery and exclusivity.

Estimates vary from one source to another, but several experts suggest a unit price of 5 million euros on the secondary market, if one is ever offered for sale.

A rare appearance... in a parking lot

Bryan Lepetit has immortalized a veritable automotive unicorn, probably without realizing it at first. The strange allure of the 5-95, far removed from the visual standards of contemporary Lamborghini supercars, easily suggests an unofficial reinterpretation.

  1. Alle Sportwagen die nur 2 Sitzplätze haben, interessieren mich prinzipiell nicht. Seit mehreren Jahren interessieren mich nur noch rein elektrische.
