Unreliable Italian cars? Lamborghini wants to guarantee its cars longer than a Korean car

Clichés die hard. When we think of Italian cars, we immediately think of passion, design, the roar of a V12... but rarely of reliability. Those days, Lamborghini now wants to consign it to the past. The Sant'Agata Bolognese manufacturer has just announced a new after-sales program that puts the brand where no one expected it to be: on the side of the most reassuring manufacturers in the world.

Up to 10 years warranty

Lamborghini now offers a warranty extension of up to 10 years from first registration. Yes, ten years, more than a Kia, the Korean manufacturer that once shook up the industry by offering a 7-year warranty to prove the quality of its vehicles.

The "Selezione Warranty Extension" program adds to a range of after-sales services and products designed to "preserve the integrity, performance and emotional power" of each model. Owners of the Temerario, Revuelto and Urus SE already benefit from 5 years of scheduled maintenance, while hybrid versions come with an 8-year warranty on high-voltage batteries. Clearly, Lamborghini wants its cars to perform as well as they did on day one, even a decade later.

The aim, of course, is to reassure customers about the image of Italian reliability. Giuliano Cassataro, head of after-sales service, sums up this philosophy in one sentence:

"Our mission is to accompany our customers throughout the life cycle of their car. This journey is designed to last forever."

A promise in stark contrast to the past, when Italian supercars were reputed to be as temperamental as they were spectacular. In launching this program, Lamborghini is seeking to defy time, as underlined by the name of its official campaign: "Defeat Time".

And at Ferrari and Maserati?

The contrast with Ferrari is interesting. At Maranello, the standard warranty remains fixed at 3 years, extendable to 8 years or 16 years, but only on plug-in hybrids, while free maintenance extends to 7 years. Lamborghini does less well on maintenance (5 years), but a little better on warranty. At Maserati, the basic warranty is 3 years, which can be extended to 5 years, and even up to 10 years with a second extension.
