Ultimate duel: the Lamborghini Revuelto V12 1015 hp takes on the Ferrari SF90 V8 1000 hp!

The rivalry between Ferrari and Lamborghini is a story that never runs out of steam. While Ferrari has just unveiled the new 849 Testarossa with its 1050 hp V8 hybrid engineThe Australian media outlet CarExpert offered a petrol-scented confrontation between the Lamborghini Revuelto and the Ferrari SF90 Stradale.

Two philosophies, one obsession: speed

On the one hand, the Lamborghini Revuelto, worthy successor to the Aventador, which retains its in-house DNA with a naturally-aspirated V12 coupled to three electric motors for a total of 1,015 hp. On the other, the Ferrari SF90 Stradale, a plug-in hybrid supercar that combines a twin-turbo V8 and three electric motors to achieve 1000 hp. Two different visions of the hybrid hypercar, but the same mission: to push back the limits of acceleration.

CarExpert's duel: the standing start and the running start

The CarExpert teams brought the two Italians together on a dusty airfield runway, without any special ground treatment. In these precarious conditions, the launch control systems make all the difference. And in this little game, the Revuelto impresses.

During the first two standing starts, the Lamborghini systematically took the lead, benefiting from exceptional driveability. Even when the Ferrari warmed up its tires and attempted a third, cleaner start, the Sant'Agata Bolognese V12 hybrid stayed ahead.

However, the situation is reversed when the race is underway. The SF90 regained the advantage, benefiting from its instant torque and the speed of its gearbox in automatic mode. It's worth noting that the difference could also be due to the fact that the Lamborghini driver was manually shifting gears.

The stopwatches speak

Despite these nuances, the figures speak for themselves:

Advertising
  • 0-100 km/h: Lamborghini advantage
  • 400 m standing start : Revuelto in 10.18 s vs. 10.3 s for the SF90
  • 80-120 km/h: Faster revuelto
  • 200 km/h and top speed: Ferrari slightly ahead

In short, the Revuelto dominates overall, even if the SF90 proves that it remains a formidable weapon once launched.

What's next?

With the release of the Ferrari 849 Testarossa (1050 hp), the Maranello-based brand has already taken a lead on paper. It remains to be seen whether Lamborghini will retaliate with a more radical version of the Revuelto (a hypothetical SV or other variation) to stand up to this new 849 Testarossa. And that, without overshadowing the exclusive Lamborghini Fenomeno (1080 hp).

  1. When I see these supercars now, I have less and less attraction for them and more and more for the old ones.
The notion of being at one with the machine is becoming increasingly absent, and I personally find this race for power to be pointless.

  2. There are several categories among sports car lovers and in mine, we find the Alfa Romeo 4C, the Abarth 124, the Fiat X1/9 (for Italy), the Lotus (for England), the Artega GT and the Opel Speedster (for Germany), the Honda S2000, Mazda MX5, Toyota MR (for the Japanese), the Alpine A110 (for the French) in the 2-seater models, but alas, this is a species on the verge of extinction.😭

    • Exactly...
It's a far cry from the thrill of driving a car that seemed to have a soul, a smell and imperfections that you fell in love with.

  4. I really thought that instead of always wanting to push the power slider further, brands would have pushed for lighter vehicles.
With berlinettes, you can have fun on circuits, as well as on winding mountain roads 🏔️, you can park them easily anywhere in town and their fuel consumption is minimal compared to their performance... etc.
In short, I'm ready to be stuffed like a prehistoric creature in the Museum of Natural History, because I can't see the point of his sports news anymore. 🤷🏻‍♂️
PS: (I forgot the GT call and the Pontiac Solstice).

  5. Even Godzilla GT-R would have been behind!
This is my translation of the above.
Joking aside, we can see the headlong rush that Ferrari and Lamborghini have embarked upon. My guess is that the 849 will be ahead of the Revuelto, which will be overtaken by the SV version, which in turn will be overtaken by the 849 XX; Lambo will then have to come up with the ultimate SVJ version. The Fenomeno's 1080 hp will be far exceeded.

  6. Sono d'accordo con chi preferisce la C4 in proporzione a delle prestazioni impressionanti e con un piccolo motore e un piccolo prezzo rispetto a Ferrari e Lamborghini peccato che non la fanno più
