The rivalry between Ferrari and Lamborghini is a story that never runs out of steam. While Ferrari has just unveiled the new 849 Testarossa with its 1050 hp V8 hybrid engineThe Australian media outlet CarExpert offered a petrol-scented confrontation between the Lamborghini Revuelto and the Ferrari SF90 Stradale.
Two philosophies, one obsession: speed

On the one hand, the Lamborghini Revuelto, worthy successor to the Aventador, which retains its in-house DNA with a naturally-aspirated V12 coupled to three electric motors for a total of 1,015 hp. On the other, the Ferrari SF90 Stradale, a plug-in hybrid supercar that combines a twin-turbo V8 and three electric motors to achieve 1000 hp. Two different visions of the hybrid hypercar, but the same mission: to push back the limits of acceleration.

CarExpert's duel: the standing start and the running start
The CarExpert teams brought the two Italians together on a dusty airfield runway, without any special ground treatment. In these precarious conditions, the launch control systems make all the difference. And in this little game, the Revuelto impresses.
During the first two standing starts, the Lamborghini systematically took the lead, benefiting from exceptional driveability. Even when the Ferrari warmed up its tires and attempted a third, cleaner start, the Sant'Agata Bolognese V12 hybrid stayed ahead.

However, the situation is reversed when the race is underway. The SF90 regained the advantage, benefiting from its instant torque and the speed of its gearbox in automatic mode. It's worth noting that the difference could also be due to the fact that the Lamborghini driver was manually shifting gears.
The stopwatches speak
Despite these nuances, the figures speak for themselves:
- 0-100 km/h: Lamborghini advantage
- 400 m standing start : Revuelto in 10.18 s vs. 10.3 s for the SF90
- 80-120 km/h: Faster revuelto
- 200 km/h and top speed: Ferrari slightly ahead
In short, the Revuelto dominates overall, even if the SF90 proves that it remains a formidable weapon once launched.

What's next?
With the release of the Ferrari 849 Testarossa (1050 hp), the Maranello-based brand has already taken a lead on paper. It remains to be seen whether Lamborghini will retaliate with a more radical version of the Revuelto (a hypothetical SV or other variation) to stand up to this new 849 Testarossa. And that, without overshadowing the exclusive Lamborghini Fenomeno (1080 hp).
