This Lamborghini Diablo "replica" is for sale... but nobody wants it

If you've always dreamed of owning a Lamborghini, but your budget doesn't allow you to realize this fantasy, a solution may be available to you... or not. A 1986 Pontiac Fiero has been transformed into a replica of the famous Lamborghini Diablo, and is currently on sale. However, despite an attractive price of 18,500 $, it seems that the market isn't really interested in this imitation.

A line that fails to convince

The Pontiac Fiero is a classic '80s model, but the idea of turning it into a Lamborghini has so far failed to convince buyers. If you're expecting a perfect replica of the Diablo, you'll be disappointed. Although the exterior has been modified to resemble the Lamborghini (with Diablo-inspired body panels and gullwing doors), the final appearance remains a far cry from a real Lamborghini.

The orange pearl paint gives a visually eye-catching edge, and the elytra doors add a touch of style, but these efforts aren't enough to disguise the replica's obvious flaws.

V6 under the hood

Despite its outward appearance, the modified Fiero isn't as disappointing as it looks under the hood. The original engine has been replaced by a supercharged V6, mated to a GM automatic transmission, offering performance that might surprise. Although the owner won't divulge the exact power output, the car is said to be more dynamic than a standard Fiero, even if it remains far from the capabilities of a true Lamborghini V12.

Inside, a few improvements have been made in an attempt to disguise the vehicle's origin. A Momo steering wheel, a digital rear-view mirror and a modified dashboard are included, but these details aren't enough to transform this Fiero into a luxury vehicle. What's more, with 79,000 miles (approx. 127,000 km) on the clock, this Lamborghini replica has lived, and it bears the marks of time.

Sales prices already on the decline

The ad, posted on Facebook Marketplace in Overland Park, Kansas, initially asked 20,000 $ for this converted Pontiac Fiero. But after a few months, the price dropped to 18,500 $. So why isn't this car selling? The answer is obvious!
