When you think LamborghiniWhen you think of a V10 or an Italian V12, you immediately think of a screaming, performance-oriented engine. But in Texas, one company has decided to break the codes. 1 Way Diesel Performance, an East Texas-based tuner, has taken on a Lamborghini Gallardo like no other. And rather than grafting a supercharger onto it or playing with ethanol fuel, they chose a totally unexpected route: a twin-turbocharged 5.9-liter Cummins diesel engine worthy of the most extreme American pick-ups.
From wreck to war machine (diesel)
The original 2004 Gallardo had lost much of its splendor. Its bodywork was damaged, its parts missing, and it was destined for the scrap heap. But for 1 Way Diesel Performance, it was a perfect base. After repairing the chassis, replacing the body panels and giving the body a flamboyant orange coat, the biggest challenge presented itself: fitting the gigantic diesel engine into a compartment designed for a much more compact V10.

The engine bay was redesigned, and the original transmission retained... The operation was almost surgical. But the result is stunning: a clean, functional and, above all, terribly efficient integration.

A dizzying rise in power
By 2023, this extraordinary Gallardo boasted 1,100 hp, enough to shock purists and make racing diesel enthusiasts dream. In 2024, the 1500 hp mark was passed. As a reminder, the original V10 produced "only" 500 hp. So we're talking about a threefold increase in power, at the price of a black-smoking engine.

Externally, the Gallardo diesel is already not inconspicuous: wide body kit, huge spoiler, air suspension, 19-inch wheels and customized calipers. A show-car look that adds to the unique character of its engine.

This diesel Lamborghini Gallardo is probably not for the daily commute, nor for a Pebble Beach concours d'élégance. But on social networks, it's causing quite a stir.
