Lamborghini at 370 km/h: police powerless to stop social networking speeders on German freeways

While the Dutch authorities are cracking down hard on speeding on their roads, some drivers simply cross the border to enjoy... unlimited freedom. A recent viral video on social networks features a Lamborghini Revuelto at 370 km/h on the A57 freeway, not far from the border between Germany and the Netherlands. Objective: to create sensational content for social networks. The result: a demonstration of power in normal road traffic, with a car transport truck overtaking at high speed, in broad daylight, on a simple two-lane road.

Germany, playground for extreme influencers

This scene is not isolated. On YouTube, Facebook and Instagram, videos of Dutch cars at over 300 km/h on the Autobahn are proliferating. The YouTube channel AutotopNL, well known for its straight-line speed tests, is full of them. And behind these videos are often the same profiles: dealers in performance-enhancing parts or luxury cars, banking on the virality of speeding to boost their reputation.

Among the models most often featured: Ferrari, LamborghiniMcLaren, Bugatti, Mercedes AMG... always with the same keyword in the description: "Autobahn". The message is clear: shoot spectacular videos on German freeways with no speed limits, then rack up views, likes and subscribers.

German police without legal means

The local police are well aware of this. Interviewed by German television station WDR, spokesman Stefan Sparberg described the videos as "totally irresponsible". However, despite the numerous videos sent to them, the German police claim to be powerless. On the section of the A57 concerned, no speed limits apply. As long as no accident occurs, the authorities have no solid legal basis for prosecuting foreign drivers. A situation described internally as "frustrating".

However, some of the behaviors filmed could theoretically justify prosecution: drifting on exit ramps, speeding on national roads or behaviors akin to illegal racing.

Why do the Dutch come to Germany to drive so fast?

The answer is simple: in the Netherlands, the legal framework is strict. During the day, the speed limit is 100 km/h on most of the motorway network. Exceeding this limit by more than 40 km/h can result in immediate confiscation of the driver's license. Above 50 km/h, the vehicle itself may be confiscated. These offences are considered misdemeanours, and can result in fines of several thousand euros, or even a prison sentence in the event of a repeat offence or endangerment of others.

Germany thus appears to be a temporary Eldorado for these extreme drivers, attracted by permissive regulations on certain stretches of freeway.

The case of the Lamborghini Revuelto at 370 km/h is emblematic of a worrying trend: the use of public infrastructures as racetracks to generate buzz. Vehicles with over 1,000 horsepower become marketing tools, and the quest for followers takes precedence over any form of responsibility. Until something dramatic happens?

  1. Finally a country, Germany, where people are allowed a bit of freedom, unlike our M... countries, where everything is regulated.

    • Because you think it's free to overtake cars that are at 130 km/h on the right and being at 370 km/h ........ it's above all the height of stupidity......... and an obvious endangerment of the lives of others.....

      • I think it's great that those who drag themselves in Germany drive in the right-hand lane.
the one on the left is for advanced,
        isn't that called good citizenship?

in short, the Germans have their law,
freeway sections where there are no restrictions
you want to change their law?

        dictator!

    • You should probably buy a brain!
Our motorway network does not allow peak speeds of 370km/h.
You can go to a private circuit for a treat!
You can't risk destroying a family if you've had a few drinks or consumed forbidden products!
Your egocentricity will play tricks on you, life is fragile, try to remember that!

  2. Going fast on autobahns when it's smooth and without limitations is all very well, but the youtubers mentioned do it to create buzz for their videos, even when there are only 2 lanes, which isn't great.

    • You're making people tired of living in a safe country. We're not allowed to do anything, there's irresponsible behavior, but beyond that, banning an entire country... it's always the same jealousy and envy of what we can't do.
Take your balls in hand do what you please and shut up y' accidented in my family is a vegetable to.their current. And I'm not advocating 80 mph, let's be serious for a minute. Everyone is going to be punished again for three assholes.

  4. Blimey! There are no accidents, so the police can't do anything! We're walking with our heads turned upside down, so why not leave them alone??? If there are no accidents, that proves they're doing it safely and it's not dangerous for anyone....

  5. No worries for me. We have to make those stupid drivers pay. And car recycling. Mailboxes and iron garbage cans and other useful items.
    Sincerely Patrice.
