«It's not real»: this Lamborghini Centenario tractor is up for auction for 1.75 million... and its creator isn't happy about it

A few days ago, we told you about a stunning Lamborghini Centenario tractor, a tractor restomod Lamborghini sold at auction in the UK for an estimated 1.75 million euros. A spectacular machine, with an assertive steampunk look, presented as one of five examples commissioned by the German company Klima Lounge to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Ferruccio Lamborghini.

Except that, in the meantime, the story has taken an unexpected turn. After our article was published, we were contacted directly by Dietmar Götz, head of Klima Lounge... who confirmed that the model on sale was not an original, but an unauthorized replica.

«It's not a real one»

In his message sent to ItalPassion, Dietmar Götz explains straightforwardly that the vehicle presented in the British sale «is a fake», and that it is not one of the five genuine Lamborghini Centenario Tractor made from 2016.

According to him, this is an unauthorized reproduction. The executive also claims that all five original models have been sold, and that none of them corresponds to the vehicle offered at auction today.

Intrigued, we asked for confirmation by sending him the link to the advert published by the specialist platform Car & Classic. A particularly detailed advert, which nevertheless presented the tractor as an authentic example built by Klima Lounge and designed by Adler Capelli. Dietmar Götz's reply was clear: «No, it's not an original».

The head of Klima Lounge also sent us the photos above of the actual models built for the Ferruccio Lamborghini centenary, and said he would contact the auction house himself.

A very convincing announcement

What's most astonishing is that, at first glance, the sales ad seems extremely credible. It includes the entire history of the project: Klima Lounge's order for five examples, the steampunk design by Adler Capelli, the inspiration from 1960s Lamborghini DLA35 tractors and even the supposed price of 1.75 million euros per example.

The announcement also states that the vehicle has covered just 500 km since its completion in 2020, and insists on its «collector» status. Everything is presented as if it were an official model from this highly confidential anniversary series. For a Lamborghini enthusiast or collector, it's hard to imagine that this could be a replica.

For the time being, the advert is still online and continues to state that this is one of the five original examples ordered by Klima Lounge. It now remains to be seen whether the auction house will modify the vehicle description, withdraw the advert, or maintain the tractor's authenticity despite the statements made by the head of the company behind the project.
