He finds his old "Tire Slayer" Lamborghini, which hasn't started for 2 years, and is left with a hefty bill.

Some reunions are fun... and some are expensive. That's exactly what happened to Damon Fryer, creator of the Daily Driven Exotics (DDE) channel, when he got his hands on one of his most iconic old cars: the Lamborghini Huracán nicknamed "Tire Slayer".

A Lamborghini forgotten for two years

This Huracán, which made a major contribution to the DDE YouTube channel's reputation, had been off the radar for over two years. Stored in a workshop near Nashville, it hadn't turned a wheel since. Dusty, dismantled in places, it seemed to be in retirement after an eventful career of drifts, burnouts and extreme modifications.

First start-up: a failure

In front of the cameras, the team attempted a first start-up. The result? Nothing conclusive. The engine (already replaced by an R8 engine during its lifetime) stubbornly refused to come back to life. After recharging the battery, a second attempt finally yielded a sign of life... but not a reassuring one: the V10 coughed, belched black smoke and spun on a few cylinders.

Big bill for a dying Lamborghini

Beyond the worrying fumes, the warning lights multiplied: transmission, injection, electronics... everything seemed to be crying out to be abandoned. Even during a short test drive in the yard, the car struggled to move forward properly, multiplying suspicious noises and jolts.

There's no denying it: bringing this Huracán back to life will require a colossal investment. Between the replacement of injectors, a complete overhaul of engine electronics, transmission repairs and cosmetic refurbishment, the bill could quickly exceed 100,000 $, according to initial estimates.

Should the "Tire Slayer" be saved at all costs for its history and fan appeal, or should we turn the page for good? Damon seems divided. On the one hand, the car is a powerful symbol for his community. On the other, the astronomical cost and current mechanical state make the project hard to justify.
