Yes, we like this kind of article on Italpassion! Buy a Lamborghini Gallardo for the price of a nice used car? That's the crazy challenge taken up by Biaheza, an American YouTuber with over a million subscribers. His goal: to find a damaged supercar on Copart, an auction site for damaged vehicles, and then restore it himself on a tight budget. The result is amazing!
Looking for a Lamborghini at 40,000 $
It all starts with an obsession. For several weeks, Biaheza investigates: he retrieves police reports on the wrecked car, tracks down digital traces of the accident site, and prepares to bid on Copart. A first attempt failed: a mysterious Utah-based buyer outbid him. But a few months later, another 2005 Gallardo appears on Copart, just 30 minutes from his home in California.

This time, without studying the vehicle's history, he decided to bid no higher than 42,000 $. A stroke of luck: he won the auction at 40,000 $. The wrecked Lamborghini Gallardo is his.
Surprise: a modified, unlicensed Gallardo

On discovering the car, he realized that it didn't look like a classic Gallardo: body modifications, non-original exhaust... It seems to have had a dozen owners, according to the Youtuber. The sound is impressive, but clearly not up to Californian standards. Biaheza soon realizes that to legally register the car, he'll have to revert to original parts.
The diagnosis reveals :
- A deformed left rear wing
- A cracked rear bumper
- A damaged rear-view mirror
- Mismatched taillights
- An interior with moldy door panels
- A missing audio system and faulty wiring due to an old subwoofer
Despite this, the car starts, drives and brakes, making the project viable.

Rather than call in specialized garages, Biaheza opts for the D system:
- Buy original spare parts on eBay
- Home repairs
- Negotiations with local garages (body repairs)
- Removal of broken active spoiler system, replaced by a simpler and less expensive fixed spoiler

He even managed to track down the previous owner, who sold him the original exhaust system, rims, spoiler, catalytic converters and a spare key.
A restored car... finally compliant

After several weeks of work, and an estimated total of approximately 17,000 $ in parts and miscellaneous expenses, the Lamborghini is practically restored:
- Original exhaust reinstalled
- Catalytic converters are reassembled
- Noise level reduced to 88 dB (from 111 dB)
- The cabin is disinfected and equipped with an original audio system.
- The right-hand rear light is replaced by a model in the same color.
The car is ready to drive. The license plate is still missing.

The wrecked Lamborghini Gallardo, purchased for 40,000 $ and refurbishment with a total budget of around 57,000 $, is not yet perfect: a new clutch and a few maintenance operations will eventually be required. But the achievement is there. Not only does the car run perfectly, it is also close to its original condition, a rare feat for a car declared "irreparable".
The video of this adventure, posted on the Biaheza channel, already has over 1 million views. It's a perfect illustration of the new trend among young enthusiasts: bringing supercars back to life for a fraction of their new price, with a little resourcefulness, a bit of luck... and a lot of hard work.
