The Kimera EVO38 is one of those cars that instantly awakens the collective imagination of rally and Italian car enthusiasts. A spiritual descendant of the legendary Lancia 037, this extreme restomod has already made its mark with his first laps around the trackthen by the presentation of the very first customer models. But at over €500,000 each and only 38 cars produced, the EVO38 remains an unattainable dream for the vast majority of enthusiasts. The good news is that this dream can now take its place on a shelf.
A miniature EVO38
Kimera Automobili and specialist Tecnomodel have just unveiled a 1:18 scale miniature of the EVO38. A faithful reproduction of the Italian restomod, designed for those who admire the car as much for its design as for what it represents in the history of modern rallying. Like the real thing, the miniature features the EVO38's taut proportions, wide fenders, huge rear spoiler and assertive visual aggression. The aerodynamic elements are treated with a visible carbon finish, from the front splitter to the rear diffuser, including the mirrors and side skirts. A level of detail that underlines the very high-end positioning of this reproduction.
This miniature EVO38 comes in two shades, Metallic Yellow and Metallic Red, directly inspired by the configurations seen on early examples of the restomod. The racing-style wheels, fitted with miniaturized Pirelli P Zero tires with red markings, further strengthen the link with the full-size version. Even at this scale, the EVO38 retains the aura of a road-legal racing car.
This EVO38 is made of resin, a conscious choice that allows for superior reproduction finesse, to the detriment of the opening panels. The result is visible inside: retro instrumentation, bucket seats, racing ambience and even a view of the engine in a central position thanks to a transparent section. The result is a miniature version of the theatrical spirit of the EVO38, a car in which the mechanics are part of the show, even in the cabin.
A limited edition... just like the real thing
The Kimera philosophy is respected to the end. Whereas the real EVO38 is limited to 38 units, all of which have already been reserved, the miniature is produced in a limited series of 300 units in total, divided equally between 150 in Metallic Yellow and 150 in Metallic Red. Priced at €290.90, this 1:18 scale EVO38 remains expensive for a miniature, but infinitely more affordable than the real thing. It is also positioned as a genuine collector's item, far more than a mere decorative object. While the real EVO38 will remain reserved for a select few, its miniature version offers a credible alternative for collectors. But as with the real thing, don't delay too long: a limited edition is a limited edition.
