It was information that made Internet users smile a few weeks ago.. Today, it's a reality: the first Fiat Topolino in the colors of the Arma dei Carabinieri have just been delivered. The little electric car, mocked on social networks for its toy-like appearance, made its first public appearance at an official event in Naples, precisely in Piazza Ciro Esposito, in the Scampia district, to mark the 211th anniversary of the founding of the Carabinieri.
A blue Carabinieri Topolino
The livery is now very real: institutional dark blue paintwork, white "Carabinieri" lettering on the hood and sides, white roofs and wheels, not forgetting the red stripe and small flashing lights on the windscreen. The base is familiar: the Fiat Topolino, a 100 % electric quadricycle derived from the Citroën Ami, embodying ultra-compact urban mobility.
For islands and historic centers
The specialized Instagram account "veicoli_demergenza" had unveiled the first images in May, prompting numerous reactions. Today, the instagram account s.o.s_italia confirms: This vehicle will be used in small towns and on Italian islands, where the Alfa Romeo Giulia or even the more compact Fiat Panda can hardly be driven. A pragmatic solution in areas where police presence is necessary, but where the infrastructure does not allow the deployment of larger vehicles.
Mockery... but also curiosity
As soon as the first photos were published, reactions were numerous, and often ironic. "Perfect for bike chases", "Tuna can", or "There's not even room to carry an arrested person": there was no shortage of mocking comments. But this time, it was the reality of the situation that got the better of us. On the spot in Naples, passers-by were visibly intrigued, some not hesitating to approach the car for a closer look. The Topolino already seems to be fulfilling an unexpected mission: attracting sympathy.
