There are those who love Ferrari... and then there's David SK Lee. This Californian entrepreneur of Hong Kong origin is now considered the world's most famous Ferrari collector. At the head of the Hing Wa Lee Group, which combines luxury jewelry, real estate and various investments, Lee has built up a fortune. But his real treasure lies elsewhere: in his garages in Walnut, California.

His collection, estimated at over $100 million, is one of the most complete and original ever seen. And it owes nothing to chance: Lee doesn't just accumulate supercars, he chooses them, orders them, personalizes them. He has even invented a way of grouping them into themed collections, which he humorously calls "ketchup", "mustard" and "relish".

The "Mustard & Ketchup" collection

David Lee is one of the few owners in the world to own the complete series of Ferrari "halo cars" - the 288 GTO, F40, F50, Enzo and LaFerrari - in two complete examples: one collection in red (ketchup), the other in yellow (mustard). In other words, he dubbed one of the most legendary sets in Ferrari history, just for your viewing pleasure.

Among the most remarkable models are :

  • Ferrari Yellow (mustard) 288 GTO, F40, F50, Enzo and LaFerrari
  • Ferrari Red (ketchup) 288 GTO, F40, F50, Enzo and LaFerrari Aperta

The "Vegetable" collection

His passion doesn't stop with the classics. In what he calls his "legume" collection, a nod to the green of certain bodywork, are ultra-rare tailor-made models, configured directly at Maranello:

  • A Ferrari Daytona SP3 in exposed carbon
  • A unique Ferrari SF90 XX Aperta
  • A tailor-made Ferrari 812 Competizione Aperta
  • The all-new Ferrari 12Cilindri Spider

The classics

Alongside these modern hypercars, David Lee also pays tribute to Ferrari's heritage with timeless icons:

  • A Ferrari 250 Lusso Competizione
  • A 275 GTB
  • A 330 GTS
  • A 365 Daytona GTS
  • And even a rare Dino 246 GTS Monza Design

Models worth tens of millions of dollars alone.

"Not for the money

Interviewed by several automotive media, Lee confided that he had invested around $40 million in his Ferraris over the years. Today, the value of his collection is said to exceed $100 million. But he insists that money has never been the driving force behind his passion:

"I do it for the love of the brand. No matter what it costs, my Ferraris are priceless to me."

His approach is the antithesis of that of some collectors who see Ferrari as a simple investment. For him, owning these cars means living in a permanent dream, surrounded by the history and mechanical excellence of Maranello.

With its multiple California garages, unique linings and original color scheme, David Lee's collection is sure to turn heads. It is arguably the most impressive private Ferrari collection in the world, mixing historic models, iconic supercars and the latest limited-edition hypercars.

One thing is certain: in Walnut, California, lies a veritable Ferrari paradise. And for many, David Lee embodies the very image of the ideal owner: an enthusiast who, despite the fortune invested, sees only one thing in his Ferraris... pleasure and emotion.

  1. Numerous videos available on YouTube showing the owner in person. You're never better served than by yourself.
Without wishing to boast, I also have the hyper-five in "ketch-up" and "mustard" .... in 1/43 🙂
