The Ferrari FF V12, a dream wagon now more affordable than a BMW M5

When Ferrari unveiled the FF in 2011, many people were stunned. Not only was it the first Ferrari with all-wheel drive as standard, it was also a four-seat shooting brake capable of competing with the best GTs on the market. A Ferrari wagon? Yes, but with a 6.3-liter, 660 hp, naturally-aspirated V12 engine, capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.7 seconds and reaching a top speed of 335 km/h.

At the time of its launch, the FF cost over €260,000 excluding options. Today, it's a gateway to the Ferrari V12 universe at prices that would make the German competition blush.

Less expensive than a BMW M5

To take a modern benchmark: the new BMW M5 (727 hp hybrid) retails at €161,900. However, many used Ferrari FFs are now selling for less than €160,000.

A rare versatility for a Ferrari, making it the ideal companion for a weekend away with the family... or for skiing, thanks to the 4WD all-wheel drive developed by the brand. At the time, Ferrari didn't hesitate to say that the FF was "the everyday Ferrari". An argument which, with falling prices, makes even more sense today.

What you need to know before buying a used FF

Like all supercars, the Ferrari FF requires vigilance and budgeting. Here are the essentials:

  • All-wheel drive (PTU/4RM): this is the most fragile part. Leaks or breakdowns can be very costly (up to €30,000 for a complete replacement).
  • Double-clutch gearbox: reliable, but sensors and oil leaks may require costly repairs.
  • Ceramic brakes: high-performance, but very expensive to replace.
  • Magnetic suspensions: to be checked, some tired shock absorbers generate noise or irregular wear.
  • Electronics: sensors, batteries and on-board electronics are sensitive to periods of inactivity.

A clear service history, detailed invoices and an inspection by a Ferrari specialist are essential before signing.

The opportunity to drive a V12 Ferrari

The Ferrari FF remains unique: an atmospheric V12 with over 660 hp, four real seats, innovative all-wheel drive and unsuspected versatility. Today, it costs less than a brand-new German sports sedan. But beware: while the entry ticket is lower, the upkeep remains that of a Ferrari.

    More pleasant than the Purosange personally.

  2. I love this auto🤪. But even if I could afford it, it's not that practical 😁. Its width alone means it's going to get stuck in my garage. And then the insurance ... it's just impossible really. A new Taycan fits better... and it's too big anyway!

    • Pero a donde vas... Como va entrar mejor un Taycan que es 6cm más largo y 2cm más ancho. Además, dependiendo de la versión incluso tiene 70 litros menos de maletero que el FF...

  3. The Ferrari FF is sublime, one of the most beautiful Ferraris, and far more desirable than an obese tank like the latest BMW M5.
    For the same price, I wouldn't hesitate. After all, servicing a Ferrari FF V12 is inevitably expensive.
