A Japanese man's Ferrari 458 Italia achieves record mileage... but not without problems!

When it came out in 2009, the Ferrari 458 Italia represented the archetypal Italian supercar: a naturally-aspirated V8, timeless styling and the aura of a collector's car in the making. Today, many examples sit in air-conditioned garages, carefully preserved to preserve their value. But in Japan, one enthusiast has taken the complete opposite approach: he's been driving his car every day since July 2011. The result? In August 2025, his 458 passed the impressive milestone of 390,000 km, probably a world record for this model.

A full life for a Ferrari

Unlike most owners, who take out their Ferrari At weekends, this Japanese man uses his car as an everyday vehicle. Over the years, he has documented his adventure on its Youtube channelsharing photos and anecdotes. In May 2023, for example, he showed his rocker covers, whose emblematic red paint had disappeared, erased by frequent washing and driving in the rain.

Worse still, around the same time, the engine gave up the ghost. But by June 2023, a second-hand engine was installed in the engine bay, and the 458 was back on the road.

Stumbling blocks and red tape

Driving a Ferrari on a daily basis also means being exposed to the vagaries of traffic. In 2017, while waiting for a space in a parking lot, a reversing car crashed into his front bumper. The same year, on an August evening, he was again involved in an accident: it took two and a half years of battling with the insurance company before he received compensation.

More recently, in April 2022, a car overtaking at too close a range snagged its exterior rearview mirror, leaving a clearly visible red mark all over the white side of the offending car.

A passion he shares

Despite these setbacks, the owner has lost none of his enthusiasm. On his YouTube channel, he shares his practical tips for 458 Italia owners: keeping the battery charged, choosing the right bulbs for the license plate... Little tricks that show the experience he's acquired over the course of this extraordinary mileage.

He also likes to share his passion in real life: he doesn't hesitate to invite passers-by to get behind the wheel of his Ferrari, or even to offer them a ride.

Pleasure before value

While many consider a Ferrari to be an object of speculation, this Japanese man proves that a 458 Italia can above all be a formidable companion on the road. No matter what the resale value, the most important thing for him is driving pleasure. At this rate, it's a safe bet that the symbolic 400,000 km mark will be passed in the next few months. A real lesson for all enthusiasts: a Ferrari is made to drive!

  1. Absolute Klasse!
