When it comes to Ferrari Dino's '70s curves and sad tribute come to mind. But today, thanks to British designer Kevin O'Rourke and his team, this retro icon is getting a second life. The Dino Evo Restomod project pushes back all limits: the latest evolution will be powered by a Ferrari 458 Italia V8!
Ferrari Dino: too wise a car?

Launched in 1967, the Dino 206 GT was the first Ferrari road car with a rear mid-engine. Followed in 1969 by the 246 GT, it gained in displacement (2.4 L) and power (195 hp), but remained far from the performance of the Ferrari V12. At the time, Enzo Ferrari decided to name it Dino rather than Ferrari, in tribute to his late son, Alfredo "Dino" Ferrari, who had contributed to the development of the V6 engine.
Many love it for its style, its history. Few for its performance.
The Dino Evo project: an already impressive first project

At first glance, the Dino Evo's craftsmanship is impressive. The aluminum body, painted in a superb deep metallic blue, has been handcrafted using classic methods, down to the smallest detail. This is far from a simple restoration project: here, every part has been thought through, tested and adjusted, and the whole exudes quality. A complete overhaul, almost handcrafted, with body panels remade by hand.

Under the hood, the original Dino V6 engine is gone. It has been replaced by a deeply modified Ferrari 328 V8 block. Scaled up to 3.8 liters, equipped with titanium connecting rods, lightened pistons, modern fuel injection, latest-generation electronic management and TubiStyle exhaust system, this engine transforms the car without altering its spirit. All coupled to a manual gearbox, for a purist driving experience.
Moto Technique has left nothing to chance to guarantee top-notch roadholding:
- Ferrari 360 Modena brakes,
- Suspension with reinforced arms,
- Electric power steering,
- 17-inch magnesium wheels with modern Michelin tires.
Every element has been designed to enhance efficiency, safety and pleasure without ever betraying the original aesthetics or balance.
An even more extreme project: a Dino with a 458 Italia engine

But Kevin O'Rourke has another project, barely visible in the background. And not just any project.
The Dino is powered by the Ferrari 458 Italia's naturally-aspirated V8 engine, developing almost 600 hp, with a 6-speed manual gearbox, F430 ceramic brakes and Brembo calipers.

With such an engine, this Dino will be transformed into a modern supercar, while retaining its vintage look. A project we can't wait to see on the road!
