Towing a Ferrari 488 GTB and a Mercedes-Benz GLA with a Volkswagen Touareg is ambitious enough. But to do it on a single trailer, on an open road, without excessive precautions... that's playing with fire. A driver in Europe, apparently in Serbia, has just learned this the hard way, in what could well be one of the most expensive scenes of the year, shared on Reddit.
An overloaded, unstable carriage
According to one witness, the Touareg was "visibly struggling" to pull the load, consisting of the two cars and the trailer. The total weight certainly exceeded the SUV's maximum towing capacity (3,500 kg). With around 1,500 kg for the Ferrari, the same for the GLA, and over 500 kg for the trailer, the limit was easily exceeded. What's more, the load seemed badly balanced, and the convoy rocked from left to right.

A few kilometers further on, tragedy struck: a tire on the Touareg burst. The driver lost control, the trailer came loose and tipped over a grassy embankment. The straps held, but the two cars found themselves hanging... upside down. The roofs of the yellow Ferrari and the red Mercedes were probably irreversibly damaged.

A heavy financial and... moral toll
It's hard to say whether the vehicles were insured, but Internet users were quick to point out that no company would cover such an accident. In any case, the scene has already gone viral, with some seeing it as "the best possible advert for the tie-down straps brand", and others ironizing that the Ferrari is now a convertible.

Moral: to move two prestige cars, it's best to entrust the job to a professional... or accept two trips.
