90 owners of Ferraris, Lamborghinis, Porsches, and other luxury cars were stopped by the police for «antisocial driving»: the officer walked away with the «really cool» car

A Ferrari Monza SP2 A vehicle worth several million euros, escorted by police through the streets of London: the first images were certainly intriguing. But behind this scene—which was unusual, to say the least—lay a police operation of much greater scope. Ferrari, Lamborghini, Rolls-Royce, and Porsche: a total of 90 vehicles were seized in the center of the British capital.

The operation, dubbed «Noisy Car,» took place from August 7 to 9 in several upscale neighborhoods of London. The Metropolitan Police focused primarily on uninsured drivers, dangerous driving, and what British authorities describe as «anti-social driving.».

A Ferrari Monza SP2 Pulled Over After Less Than 30 Minutes

The most spectacular seizure is undoubtedly a Ferrari Monza SP2, one of the most exclusive models produced by Maranello. Registered in Dubai, the supercar had been in the United Kingdom for only one day when it caught the attention of the police. According to information provided by the authorities, the driver had been behind the wheel for less than half an hour before being pulled over.

The problem, however, was not the rarity of the car. The driver apparently only had a provisional license, and the Ferrari was uninsured. These are rather surreal circumstances, considering that a Monza SP2 recently sold at auction for over 4 million euros. Images of the Ferrari being escorted by police cars quickly went viral on social media.

And contrary to what the scene might have suggested, the London police had not added a Monza SP2 to their fleet. An officer simply got behind the wheel to drive the prized speedster to the location where it was to be picked up. In the video below, you can hear the police officer driving the Ferrari say, «This is really cool—I really like it.».

The Monza SP2 was just the most visible part of an impressive crackdown. Among the 90 vehicles seized was also a Ferrari Purosanguea Lamborghini Revueltoa Lamborghini Urus, a Rolls-Royce Cullinan, a Porsche 911 GT3, a Bentley Continental, and several Range Rovers, BMWs, and Mercedes.

The total value of the impounded vehicles exceeds 8 million pounds sterling, or more than 9 million euros. This is a record for this operation, which has been conducted by London law enforcement for the past five years. But the checks were not limited to traffic violations. Several arrests were also made. In particular, one man was arrested after 19 bank cards belonging to other people and more than 2,500 pounds in cash were discovered. Another uninsured driver was arrested on suspicion of drug trafficking.

«Supercar or not, the rules apply to everyone»

With this spectacular operation, the Metropolitan Police aims above all to address complaints from residents who have been affected by speeding, noise pollution, and dangerous behavior by certain drivers in central London neighborhoods. The police summed up their message with a statement particularly fitting for the images of this multi-million-euro Ferrari under police escort: «Supercar or not, the rules apply to everyone.»

In London, even having several hundred horsepower under the hood doesn’t mean you can break the traffic laws. And when cars like the Ferrari Monza SP2, Lamborghini Revuelto, and other exceptional vehicles are involved, the police operation inevitably takes on a spectacular dimension.
