The first part of the 2023 season of Formula 1 was a big one for Scuderia Ferrariwhich has been relegated to the status of a mere figurehead in the face of the dominant teams: Mercedes, Red Bull and even Aston Martin!

The Maranello stable has had a string of setbacks, from a misunderstood single-seater, sluggish performance and haphazard strategies, which spoiled the efforts of its two drivers, Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz.

Faced with this critical situation, Ferrari has decided to clean up its organizational chart. Following the departures of Binotto, David Sanchez and Laurent Mekies, new boss Frédéric Vasseur has made a number of internal promotions, such as that of Enrico Cardile to Technical Manager, as well as external hires.

Among the latter - we're still waiting for the official announcement - is Loïc Serra, ex-Mercedes Performance Director, who was one of the architects of the German team's supremacy in recent years.

Another key player Vasseur would like to attract is Pierre Waché, Red Bull Racing's Technical Director. Waché is an expert in fluid dynamics and aerodynamics, who has contributed to Red Bull's successes in recent seasons. But for the time being, he has said he wants to stay with Red Bull.

With these major changes, Ferrari hopes to return to its former glory. The Prancing Horse team is banking on Project 676, the code name for the future Ferrari single-seater, to return to the top by 2024.

  1. There are plenty of specialists in aerodynamics and fluid mechanics in France, at Dassault or Airbus. I know some who'd be very happy to work at Ferrari, too.
