Ferrari 550

The Ferrari 550 Maranello marks the return of the front-engine V12 at Ferrari after several years dominated by mid-engine architectures. Presented in 1996, it was the indirect successor to the Testarossa / 512 TR and inaugurated a new generation of V12 Grand Tourers, combining high performance, elegance and ease of use. In 2000, Ferrari unveiled the 550 Barchetta Pininfarina, a radical convertible version produced in a very limited series, celebrating 70 years of Pininfarina. These two models would lay the technical and philosophical foundations for the 550 → 575M → 599 → F12 → 812 → 12Cilindri lineage.
