Ferrari 288 GTO

The Ferrari 288 GTO, presented at the Geneva Motor Show in March 1984, marked the return of the mythical GTO (Gran Turismo Omologata) name since the 250 GTO of the 1960s. Developed to meet Group B regulations, it was initially intended for competition, before being withdrawn from the championship. Based on the 308 GTB but extensively modified, the 288 GTO adopts a longitudinal twin-turbo V8, an enlarged body in composite materials and an architecture optimized for pure performance. Today, it is considered Ferrari's first modern supercar, paving the way for the F40.
