Here's what the new Alfa Romeo Tonale SUV design should look like

A few days ago, the first official images of the restyled Alfa Romeo Tonale had leaked on the Autopareri forum. Although precious, they suffered from an imperfect resolution that didn't allow us to fully grasp the details of the facelift expected for autumn 2025.

Today, an illustrator and moderator from the Italian forum offers high-definition renderings. As a result, we now have a much clearer vision of what the new face of the Biscione brand's compact SUV should look like.

A Scudetto with a traditional flavour

At first glance, the change is obvious: the famous Scudetto has evolved towards a more classic design, with horizontal bars reminiscent of previous generations of Alfa Romeo. This assertive nod to the past could appeal to enthusiasts who sometimes regret the stylistic break with the Giulia and Stelvio.

But Alfa Romeo is not content with a return to its roots. The rest of the front fascia is directly inspired by the new Junior, the small SUV 100 % Stellantis launched last year. The enlarged side air intakes and assertive horizontal lines modernize the whole while creating visual coherence within the range. These renderings also make it easier to distinguish between painted and black plastic areas, which was much less obvious on the initial leaks.

Changes expected inside and under the hood

The restyling of the Tonale will be more than just exterior styling. Alfa Romeo is also preparing new interior ambiences, with new colors. Although nothing has yet been officially announced, we can expect the return of warm hues such as cream, camel and brown, long appreciated by Alfa enthusiasts but absent from the current range.

Alfa Romeo is also set to overhaul its powertrain line-up, with the light hybrid engine upgraded from 160 to 175 hp thanks to a new method of calculating cumulative power. The PHEV version, meanwhile, could benefit from efficiency improvements.

This facelift comes at a decisive moment. After a promising launch in 2022, the Tonale has seen its sales fall off sharply in Europe. But Alfa Romeo can't rely on the Junior alone to maintain its sales momentum.

    • The illustrator has in fact indicated on the autopareri forum that he hasn't redone the scoops and that they may be a finishing touch for the sporty Veloce versions.
