The leaks about the restyling of Alfa Romeo's Tonale compact SUV are coming thick and fast... and there's little room for surprise. After a first series of images appearing in August 2025followed by highly realistic rendering which have been widely circulated on the Internet, new visuals have just emerged. And this time, it's difficult to speak of simple sketches: these are technical documents in black and white, detailing in no uncertain terms the model's major evolutions.

A redesigned front, inspired by past and present
In these diagrams, the new front bumper is clearly visible. One image shows the whole, another zooms in on the central part with a symbolic evolution: the license plate moves from a side position to a central one, emphasizing a more balanced face.

But the detail that will grab the attention of enthusiasts above all is, of course, the new Scudetto. It features a design inspired by that of the Alfa Romeo 159, 147 or even Brera, with horizontal bars, while subtly recalling the 33 Stradale. A true visual signature, confirming the return to codes dear to aficionados.

Brand new rims
Another clue revealed by these documents: the Speciale and Veloce finishes will indeed be present at launch. As for the wheels, we discover four types of rims, including a new three-hole "telephone" design, an obvious homage to the brand's heritage that already exists on the Junior model.

A strategic model for Alfa Romeo
The whole package reflects a clear desire to give the Tonale a more assertive, more aggressive personality, while anchoring it in Alfa Romeo history. The arrival of the restyled Tonale is imminent. The official presentation is scheduled for autumn 2025, and we'll have the opportunity to test drive it as early as the end of October. For Alfa Romeo, this is a key step: keeping the Tonale at the heart of the range, at a time when the little Junior SUV is capturing most of the commercial attention. It remains to be seen whether this facelift will be enough to revive sales momentum in Europe and beyond. Find out in the coming weeks.
Slightly improved design, but it's a pity the plate is in the center instead of on the side.
But the most important thing would be convincing powertrains, not just small, anemic engines.
Indeed, the engines are the weak point of the range as well as for the Junior.
280 hp for the Junior...
and 280 also on the Tonale. I own them both, and I love them.
Mouarf... a new grille and wheels. But for the rest, deja has been ...
In short, Alfa Romeo and Stellantis ...or how to dig when you're already in the hole!
@Hans
The Tonale is an ex FCA product at 95 %.
... Junior is a Stellantis product and has been the brand's lifeblood for over a year!
Let's put the church back in the middle of the village... Your comments are only opinions.
I completely agree with the comment about the central license plate and the engines.
Otherwise, I find it better than the first version.
A word about the rims: "3-leaf" clover rims when Alfa Romeo is the brand with the 4-leaf clover? Under the Junior it was already a sign of deviation...
Colored leathers too, other than red or black
Ugly sht remains ugly like we all know... Disgusting Alfa Junior, true hier of SZ
Clearly, if they don't make an effort with the engines, the restyling won't do much for sales. It's ridiculous to use a 1.3-liter engine for the plug-in hybrid version. Renault offers 1.6 and 1.8-liter engines that consume much less fuel and offer greater driving pleasure and torque. It's like the 65 hp of the future 500, totally incomprehensible unless they're trying to sink the brand.
Well, no, that's not true. Renault often uses a 1.8 l for HEV versions, but the Rafale, for example, is equipped with a 1.2 l ...in the 300 hp PHEV version (and I agree, it's ridiculous). That doesn't change the problem of the Tonale, which is just a rehatted Jeep in the final analysis.
To think that Alfa was BMW's competitor - that was in the 80s.
Now we're comparing the Junior and Tonale with Mini (Countryman), representing 90% of Alfa sales.
It's true that, in the meantime, under the scissor effect of falling sales and rising costs, Alfa has unfortunately had to sacrifice its engine-making talents on the altar of expense pooling.
Of course, it's regrettable that Alfa has to source its engines from "sister" brands with poor reputations, rather than the other way around.
Except, of course, for the Quadrifoglio, 8C and 33 Stradale, which are supplied by Maserati and Ferrari. But that's for (very) rich enthusiasts.
Alfa can't go back to being the premium brand it's supposed to be, just with generalist platforms dressed up in a slightly more Latin dress.
