L'Alfa Romeo Junior continues its international conquest. Following its launch in Europe and Japan, the Italian brand's smallest SUV is now taking its first steps in North America. But this arrival hides a peculiarity that is sure to interest enthusiasts: the model is not available in the United States. For the time being, this new compact SUV is only available in Mexico.
An arrival in North America... via Mexico
Alfa Romeo has officially opened reservations for its new Junior SUV in Mexico. The launch marks the model's arrival on the North American continent, although the American market remains out of the equation.
The Italian brand seems intent on strengthening its presence in Mexico with this strategic model. According to Jesús Rodríguez, Sales Vice-President of Stellantis Mexico, the Junior is part of a new phase for Alfa Romeo in the country. The objective is clear: to offer a vehicle with an assertive Italian style, supported by a solid distribution network and an after-sales program aimed at premium customers. For the moment, Alfa Romeo has not yet announced the price of the SUV for the Mexican market. However, this hasn't stopped the brand from opening reservations for the new model.

As in other markets, the Alfa Romeo Junior offered in Mexico features a hybrid powertrain. It combines a three-cylinder 1.2 turbo petrol engine with a small electric motor. The combined power output is 145 hp, and is mated to a six-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. Two versions of the model will be offered in Mexico, both based on the same hybrid powertrain.
A model missing from the American market?
While the arrival of the Junior in North America is an important milestone for Alfa Romeo, the absence of the model in the United States remains surprising. For the time being, American customers will have to make do with the Tonale, Stelvio and Giulia in the range. For the time being, the Junior will be reserved for Mexico.
